This is a Supplemental position is for our Legacy Medical Group (LMG) – Women’s Health Clinic. LMG Women’s Health includes four physicians and a thriving Midwifery Group. Our providers are part of the medical staff at Legacy Silverton Medical Center. Our midwives provide full scope midwifery in a team-based model, collaborating with the physicians as indicated. Our midwife team cares for patients in our Salem, Silverton and Woodburn locations. The community we serve identifies as approximately 60% Caucasian and 30% Hispanic, including a notable Orthodox Russian population.

Legacy Silverton Medical Center (LSMC): Our Family Birth Center (FBC) is well respected throughout the surrounding extended communities. The FBC includes 18-LDRP rooms, an OR on the unit, and a tele-baby program which is a direct link to Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel in Portland. Silverton Hospital has been named a “Top 100” hospital in the country and the FBC has received the JD Power Award for Excellence. Legacy's FBC in Silverton has been consistently chosen as the valley’s “Best Place to Have a Baby” by readers of the Statesman Journal. The midwifery practice has high level of engagement in quality improvement and leadership at our FBC and supports a high functioning interdisciplinary culture on the unit.

Silverton is a quaint town with locally owned businesses, a seasonal farmer’s market, summer festivals, and historic murals. There is ample opportunity for outdoor activities including The Silver Falls State Park with trails known for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, and The Oregon Garden which is an 80-acre botanical garden and open year-round. We are nestled between Salem and the Cascade Mountains and a one-hour commute to Portland as well as close-proximity to ocean beaches and long skiing seasons making this an opportunity for both professional satisfaction and an active healthy lifestyle.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides antepartum, intrapartum, post-partum, family-planning and well-woman gynecological care independently and with consultation to low, moderate, and high-risk adolescent and adult women based on scope of practice and established guidelines.
  • This group provides in-patient newborn care and first assist at cesarean section. This care is guided by practice protocols and standards established jointly by the Silverton Hospital Midwifery Service Staff and the Midwifery Services Program Director under the direction of the Clinical Vice President of Women’s Services.
  • Functions in collaborative relationships with consulting physicians as clinically indicated.
  • Participates in the daily functions and staff rotations as directed by the Midwifery Services Program Director.
  • Follows all organizational, regulatory, and human resource policies and procedures as established by Legacy Hospitals under the direction of the Program Manager of Midwifery Services.

  • Practice includes full participation in outpatient care.

  • This is a non-exempt position for supplemental employees with unpredictable hours and schedules.

  • Bilingual preferred but not required.

Education:

  • Current applicable state license as a Registered Nurse/ Nurse Midwife/ Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Privileges (NP-PP) required.
  • National Certification as a Nurse Midwife (CMW) required.
  • Possess active BLS card from the American Heart Association.
  • Possess Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification.

Experience:

Full scope women’s healthcare and midwifery experience preferred.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Able to conduct research.
  • Ability to work with people in a diplomatic and tactful manner, utilizing effective leadership and group process skills.
  • Demonstrated competency in clinical care, as appropriate to the ages of patients served.
  • Ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs; knowledge of growth and development; and an understanding of the range of treatment needed by these patients.
