The Driver will be responsible for supporting logistics activity and transportation of program personnel supporting the Early Grade Education Activity in Jordan.

Your Background & Skills

  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Minimum 3 years or more related experience
  • A good driving record and understanding of auto mechanics are required.
  • Availability for overtime work and field travel is necessary.
  • Past experience providing logistics support, as needed.
  • Knowledge of Jordanian traffic laws and regulations.
  • Ability to read maps efficiently.
  • Good understanding and ability to speak, read and write English.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to support and assist colleagues.
  • Diligent attention to details and diligent attention to safety.
  • Must demonstrate valid proof of unrestricted work authorization in Jordan.

Your Daily Tasks

  • Fifty percent (50%) of the job responsibilities involve driving the program team to events and activities, while the remaining fifty percent (50%) involve supporting event and activity logistics.
  • Drive assigned project vehicles within various regions of Jordan and safely transport staff and counterparts if needed to desired locations in a timely, safe, and courteous manner; and stay overnight when needed.
  • Check the assigned vehicle to ensure that it is operational and safe to drive.
  • Make sure the insurance is valid and regularly updated in accordance with Jordanian legislation.
  • Clean assigned vehicle daily both inside and out.
  • Initiate and supervise repairs and periodic maintenance of assigned vehicles.
  • Maintain driver logs and complete pre-trip inspections.
  • Maintain car maintenance sheets and follow up and coordinate car maintenance schedule and maintenance needs.
  • In coordination with the Operations Officer, provide assistance to IREX offices and programs with purchasing of goods and equipment, loading/unloading of materials, and delivery of correspondence to IREX and partners.
  • Support technical team with preparing supplies, materials, and logistics for program activities in the office and or at program activities occurring outside the office.
  • Work with the Procurement Officer and Administrative Coordinator to help with office moves and general distribution of general supplies.
  • Support in the distribution of goods to respective universities, as needed, ensuring that documentation is completed and documented in alignment with compliance guidelines.
  • When needed, collect quotations, receipts, and invoices, check they are correctly filled in and delivered to the Finance department.
  • With the Operations Officer, and as needed, conduct research, make site visits, and find resources to help staff make decisions about locations for events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
