We have an exciting opportunity for an Electronics Design Engineer - Space Exploration Electronic Systems to our team with the Engineering Division.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Electronics Design Engineer - Space Exploration Power Systems to join the team with JETS II.

As an Electronics Design Engineer - Space Exploration Electronic Systems, you will:

  • Report directly to the Electronics and Electrical Section Manager as part of group of over 55 other Electronics and Electrical Engineers.
  • Work directly with or as a Team Lead and associated Electrical Engineers on a given project.
  • Support new designs from conception, analysis, and manufacturing, through to operational test and deployment.
  • Provide design support and guidance in various aspects of Electronics System Development.
  • Be familiar with NASA specifications for Electronics.
  • This role requires in-person presence on-site at JSC and embedded with the project, 5 days per week.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.?


Job Requirements:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of 2 - 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and may be expected to have a related master's or higher degree and normally possess 2 to 5 years of related experience.
  • Prior experience with Analog, Digital, and Power electrical schematic entry and printed circuit board layout tools such as:
  • Prior experience with system testing and troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Prior experience with anomaly investigation and root-cause failure analysis.
  • Prior experience with Generating Electrical Procedures.
  • Prior experience with Work with other disciplines.
  • Prior experience with power analysis, spice simulation, and derating cables/PCB.
  • Prior experience with understanding system requirements and requirements verification and validation.
  • Prior experience with analog circuit design for space applications and schematic capture using Altium.
  • Prior experience in system engineering and environmental testing.
  • Prior experience leading electronics design engineering team and capable for mentoring others.
  • Prior experience with JSC standards and processes. ?

Requisition Preferences:

  • Familiarity with data interface protocols and associated hardware such as Ethernet, RS232, RS422, RS485, I2C, SPI, etc.
  • Experience with system hardware test such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, logic analyzers, function.
  • Familiarity with mathematical modeling and algorithm development in MATLAB.
  • Familiarity with hyperlynx.
  • Familiarity with power budget.
  • Familiarity with Power and Digital circuit design.
  • Familiarity with in-line EEE parts selection.
  • Familiarity with configuration management.
  • Familiarity with version control software like Subversion (SVN).
  • Proficient in MS Office programs, particularly Microsoft, Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, OneNote, SharePoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment.??

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
