Weapons System Specialist - Alexandria, Egypt (Job Number:415414)


SAIC is currently seeking a skilled Weapon Systems Specialist in support of overseas projects in Egypt. Position requires candidate to directly supervise, mentor and train assigned Egyptian apprentice and journeyman personnel. This includes assigning work, evaluating performance, identifying training needs, and hearing/resolving issues and conflicts. In addition, the candidate should:
- Provide technical assistance and training to Egyptian Navy Officers and Enlisted personnel to include the following: operation, repair, maintenance, of MK15 Close in Weapon System (Block 0 and 1A) typically found on-board former FFG-7 ships, to include their associated computer and sensor packages.
- Perform organizational and intermediate maintenance on digital computer equipment, subsystems, and systems; operate and maintain combat and weapons direction systems, surface-to-air and surface-to-surface missile systems, and gun fire control systems at the organizational and intermediate level, inspect, test, align, and repair micro/minicomputers and associated peripheral equipment, data conversion units, data display equipment, data link terminal equipment and system related equipment; make analysis for detailed systems, computer programs, electronics, and electronic casualty control; operate associated built-in and external test equipment; load, initialize, and run preprogrammed diagnostic, performance and testing routines for digital computer equipment, digital subsystems, digital systems, and overall combat systems.
- Interact frequently with Senior Egyptian Naval Officers
- Provide detailed and technically accurate written condition, and open and inspection reports. Use technical publications to identify and order required repair parts.

Minimum Qualifications:

8 + years of experience working with US Navy ships (FFGs and MHCs)

8 + years of knowledge of the Close-In Weapon System (CIWS)

8 + years of experience with technical and repair for CIWS

Must hold a Secret Clearance

Ability to work overseas

Preferred Qualifications:

Ideal candidate will be a Senior Fire Control Technician with Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC) 1121, 1122 or 1127 preferred. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office. Ability to prepare detailed written reports. Ability to manage, train and mentor foreign nationals. Applicant must be resourceful and able to work around problems such as lack of access when planned, electrical power and compressed air when needed, or personnel when expected. They must be able to work independently without support, many times accomplishing repairs and overhauls independently.

Applicant must agree to work in Egypt for at least one year, as long as their performance is satisfactory and the effort continues to be funded, and be willing to consider staying longer, if offered.
