Job Purpose:

To serve as the Company’s liaison with state regulatory agencies in New York and New England and to coordinate assigned state regulatory activities and contacts within the Company so as to maintain and strengthen regulatory relationships, ensure regulators receive current and accurate information and to facilitate resolution of regulatory issues.

Job responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Serve as liaison with state regulatory bodies
Lead and manage stakeholder engagement on regulatory matters as assigned; elicit stakeholder input into Company proposals; ensure feedback is considered and addressed, as appropriate.
Coordinate assigned regulatory activities and contacts within the Company to build and maintain strong regulatory relationships, ensure regulators receive regulators receive the most current and accurate information, and facilitate resolution of regulatory issues.
Develop and maintain close working relationships internally (with, for example, the Jurisdictions, Government Relations, Investor Relations and Corporate Communications) to provide feedback and insights into regulatory priorities and positions.
Monitor and report on developments at other utilities and proceedings of the New York and New England regulatory commissions to enable National Grid to anticipate state policy priorities and identify ways to align with the Company’s business objectives.
Handle escalated customer/developer issues, as needed.
Identify emergency/critical issues that are likely to become focus points.
Create monthly stakeholder engagement reports; maintain files and regulatory calendar
Provide regulatory support during storms and other emergency events.

Job Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of work experience with industry and government in in a regulated environment.
Minimum of 5 years of direct government or regulatory experience; electric or gas utility experience preferred.
Extensive knowledge of state regulatory functions and processes and/or utility operations required.
In-depth knowledge, professional experience and deep understanding of issues impacting the energy industry.
Demonstrated ability to understand, analyze and prioritize a broad range of issues coupled with strong decision-making skills.
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Public Policy, Political Science or related discipline required; Master’s Degree preferred.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills; must be able to provide timely and accurate interpretation of analyses.
Strong interpersonal skills, including persuasion and the ability to explain complex issues to policy makers, the public and senior management.
Ability to work both independently and in cross-functional teams.
Demonstrates the ability to challenge existing processes or ways of working to avoid future crisis or create opportunity to improve existing practices.
Demonstrates the ability to research inquiries and follow-up to ensure completion.
