Software Quality Assurance Traffic Engineer

Econolite Group, Inc. (

  Full Time   Employee

United States

Are you a technically minded and competitive person who wants to be the best in the world at something? Do you have a driven passion to make the world a better place by saving lives and improving the environment? Econolite is offering a very unique career opportunity for such a person.

Most people rarely contemplate the fact that more than 6000 people are killed and 600,000 people injured annually at US intersections. They also rarely contemplate the impacts of the 10+ billion hours our vehicles run idle each year waiting for lights to turn green. These are the challenges that fuel our passion for traffic control at Econolite.

Econolite is the leading manufacturer of traffic controllers in North America, with control software deployed to approximately 100,000 intersections. We take this market position, not with the hubris of success, but with the moral responsibility and sense of ownership to these challenges. Econolite is in a very unique position to not merely contribute to innovations that sell traffic controllers, but to truly implement solutions into the world. The challenge to this innovation is rooted in the reality that the simplistic problem of timing green, yellow, and red lights actually requires more than 80,000 user configurable parameters that can govern the control logic at one single intersection. These current methodologies for traffic control are deeply rooted in historic precedence, tribal knowledge, and a litigious environment that fosters resistance to change. Econolite understands that this level of complexity and deep domain experience is a significant barrier to overcome, especially for entry or outside industry engineers that want to become involved in this solution. We are seeking a technically competitive person that in not just looking for a stepping stone in their career, but are sufficiently driven by passion to accept these challenges as their life’s work.
