Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

As the Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) you must have an in-depth understanding of the cybersecurity policies and procedures for DoD information systems and sufficient technical knowledge and experience to implement them. In this role, you will support Special Access Program SAP classified programs and the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) by:

Evaluating customer systems to identify information protection needs in accordance with applicable DoD IA requirements (e.g., JSIG NIST base RMF controls, DISA Security Requirements and Technical implementation guides (SRG/STIG) and local organizational security policies).

Design security architectures for customer systems that meet customer compliance and budgetary objectives, and assist with the technical implementation of those architectures ensuring that system designs incorporate security configuration guidelines.

Ensure that the design of hardware, operating systems, and software applications adequately address IA security requirements for customer systems in a manner that provides compliance with confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, and non-repudiation and recommend changes to computer system components as needed to obtain these objectives.

Evaluate proposed security architectures and designs and provide input as to the adequacy of those security designs to meet required security compliance objectives.

Provide input on IA security requirements to be included in statements of work and other appropriate procurement documents.

Develop and maintain processes and procedures to identify, track and mitigate customer system vulnerabilities. Experience with using NESSUS scanning application preferred.

Continually assess and document threats to and vulnerabilities of the customer systems and ensure that the implementation of security designs properly mitigate identified threats. Assess the effectiveness of implemented information protection measures and participate in IS risk assessment during the assessment and authorization process.

Identify, assess, and recommend IA or IA-enabled products for use within customer systems; ensure recommended products are in compliance with the DoD evaluation and validation requirements.

Provide input to IA C&A process activities and related documentation such as systems concept of operations, system security design, implementation plans, operational procedures, and maintenance training materials.

Provide engineering support and assistance to security/certification test and evaluation activities.

Position Requirements:

Must be knowledgeable of the Department of Defense (DoD) information system security compliance and implementation guidance. Specifically, Joint SAP Implementation Guide (JSIG) based on the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF). Must have DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program certification for IASAE Level 2 or above.

A minimum of 5 years experience in Information System Security implementation required and 3-5 years experience providing technical support preferred.

Working knowledge of IT systems function, security policies, and technical security safeguards and operations security measures. Specifically, Microsoft Windows 7 and Server 2012 security technical configuration and event log auditing. Experience with Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) is preferred.

Security Requirements: U.S. Citizenship and an active DoD TS/SCI clearance based upon a SSBI completed within the last 5 years.
