The Technical Writer position is responsible for reviewing, revising, modifying and editing documents prepared by others. The Technical Writer shall maintain and update installation instructions, training material and other technical documents. He/she will be required to lead the documentation, and deliver all related testing, installation, configuration, optimization, operations, and IA-compliance settings/configurations/processes/procedures upon completion of testing or incrementally as determined by the customer. He/she will capture and document system details and make ready for integration into architectural drawings by the AutoCAD Team to be used during final system installation, configuration, integration, and implementation.

Job Specific Responsibilities:

- Prepare/quality review presentation material and briefing slides
- Draft/edit/finalize for delivery:

- Critical Design Document
- Installation Design Plan
- Quality Assurance Plan
- Work closely with IT engineers to capture and document all related testing, installation, configuration, optimization, operations, and IA-compliance procedures/methods/instructions
- Make recommendations for improving the design/content of documents needed to support engineering activities
- Identify document production timelines/milestones and incorporate/track all within the overall project schedule(s)
- Lead the documentation development efforts, as needed

Provides technical support to field engineers, technicians, and product support personnel who are diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and debugging complex electro/mechanical equipment, computer systems, complex software, or networked and/or wireless systems. Responds to situations where first-line product support has failed to isolate or fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software. Reports design, reliability and maintenance problems or bugs to design engineering/software engineering. May be involved in customer installation and training. Provides support to customer/users where the product is highly technical or sophisticated in nature. Generally interacts directly with the customer/user when the product is highly technical or sophisticated in nature, such as with systems level software where the user has a technical background. Additionally, may interact with product support personnel and potentially the customer when the customer¿s problem cannot be resolved directly by first-level resources. (It should be understood that this is not intended to be a detailed nor comprehensive description of any individual employee's job content. Managers set the specific duties and responsibilities for each employee). Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives. Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. Work is reviewed by management to measure whether objectives have been met. PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives. FREEDOM TO ACT: Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Demonstrates good judment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. IMPACT: Contributes to completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources. LIASON: Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.


a) Must possess a Secret clearance

b) Must possess three or more years of demonstrated technical writing experience on large engineering projects involving enterprise-level IT system design, testing, integration, and implementation

c) Must possess advanced interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate effectively, self-awareness, and excellent written and oral communications.

d) Should possess an Bachelor’s Degree or higher in English, Technical Writing, or related discipline; experience may be accepted in lieu of education

e) Should possess demonstrated experience with DoD Operations support within an ITIL Service Operations management framework, including use of Service Now or Remedy service management tools
