To support development and leadership of a Program Assurance strategy that supports and challenges others to achieve good outcomes by delivering a suite of assurance that is fit for purpose and proportionate to risks.
The role will communicate the independent view of projects and Program status within the agreed portfolio to internal and external stakeholders and support good decision making, taking a strategic view based on evidence and experience.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
·Day-to day management of the Program Assurance team.
·Support creation of the Program Assurance Strategy for the agreed Portfolio, Programs and Projects and agree to the management plan.
·Lead, plan, manage, configure and prioritise assurance activities in line with the assurance schedule.
·Engage with Executive sponsors to deliver planned assurance.
·Appraise assurance/validation findings, lessons learned, audit findings, issues driving under performance (including trends and norms) and other intelligence to prioritise future assurance activities and make recommendations for consideration of consequence within the wider portfolio.
·Leverage opportunities from learning from experience and make recommendations for improvements.
·Development of the scope, depth, alignment and robustness of stage reviews and health checks ensuring that the outcomes identify all issues and that comprehensive timely action plans are in place to mitigate these issues before the reviews.
·Undertaking ‘Deep Dive’ independent assurance reviews where risk assessment indicates that is necessary.
·Provide independent authoritative view of the performance of activities with gravitas and authority to deliver messages to stakeholders, Program boards and steering groups.
·Deliver assurance activities to both internal and external parties that value is being delivered and benefits are realised.
Knowledge & experience in the following areas is preferable:
·Good project assurance experience, Big 4 experience preferable with proven track record for delivering audits and/or assurance within multinational utility/asset management companies or operations/functional experience from utility/assessment management companies.
·Good knowledge and understanding of project methodologies, audit delivery and practices, internal control frameworks and risks management activities and skill in applying internal auditing principles and practices.
·Demonstrable track record of developing successful, long lasting, relationships across the business including ability to engage, challenge and influence senior managers, deal effectively with resistance to proposals and secure their buy-in and support.
·Strong knowledge of and experience of project assurance, ideally within the utility sector.
·Experience of managing project teams, managing others and projects independently.
·A focus on continued improvement and achieving high standards.
·Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Sciences or related areas.
·An MBA or CPA, ACCA, ACA, CMA, CISA or other appropriate professional qualification(s), preferred.
·PRINCE 2 or PMI certification, preferred
·5+ years of relevant work experience, Big 4 experience preferable or industry experience
