This is an embedded communicator role within National Grid’s gas business that will support change communications for a business transformation program called Gas Business Enablement. As processes and systems are changed it is anticipated to have a broad business impact across some 7,000 employees in the gas business and supporting areas.
Under the direction of the VP Business Design and Readiness, the successful individual will develop the communications strategy and tactics to engage stakeholders at all levels of the business and support a successful business transformation.
Position Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
·Develop and implement the overall communications strategy while applying an understanding of corporate culture and audience segmentation.
·Develop, implement and evaluate communications activities to ensure consistent and timely messages are shared in line with the transformation program’s vision and strategy.
·Work closely with change management team and provide strategic communications expertise and writing and editing services ensuring consistent messaging across the program.
·Review key program communication to ensure consistency of messaging.
·Work collaboratively with the US Corporate Communications team to provide the project’s consistent communication message across National Grid and also to build key corporate messages into the project’s narrative for both internal and external audiences.
·Design and project manage appropriate internal employee communication campaigns to support the delivery of area messages across National Grid.
·Research, design, write and edit contemporary and strategic content for a variety of communications deliverables including speaking notes, web content, feature articles, posters and promotional material.
·Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders within National Grid in order to identify and deliver communication advice and solutions that fit the needs of the business.
·Manage the day to day relationship with external vendors and creative service providers to develop and implement effective communication solutions.
·Ensure that employee audience segmentation and data sources are kept up to date and accessible to the team at all times.
Knowledge & Experience Requirements:
·Bachelor’s Degree in relevant fields with 5-7 years business experience
·Proven ability to develop and implement employee communication plans and campaigns incorporating both modern and traditional vehicles and styles
·Strategic thinker with ability to propose new and creative ideas and solutions, while providing alternative options
·Problem solver with track record of transforming complex subjects into easily understood communication pieces
·Knowledge and experience in writing and editing range of communications material for traditional and social media channels
·Knowledge and experience of all aspects of the internal communication mix, including research and measurement.
·Exceptional interpersonal skills dealing with all levels of the organization
·Experience in matrixed organizations with large field-forces focusing on employee communication and strategy deployment is a plus
·~20% travel required within the current service area (NY/MA/RI)
·Change management communications experience is an asset
·Basic knowledge of marketing fundamentals is preferred
