The Vehicle Maintenance Mentor will support, assist, and advise in all matters relating to development of host country capacities and abilities to establish and maintain vehicle maintenance programs for the security services. Conducts assessments and provides analysis on the abilities of the host country to develop, and implement a self-sustaining vehicle maintenance and management programs for the security services; Identifies courses of instruction, to include preventative maintenance programs.

Principal Accountabilities:

(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
Assess host country vehicle maintenance capabilities and make recommendations for development of assistance programs to help the host country maintain, repair and develop preventative vehicle maintenance programs for their security services.
Implement assistance programs in order to enhance and expand vehicle maintenance programs and related training programs for sustaining security services vehicles.
Develop policies and procedures for ordering and stocking vehicle spare parts, and implementing oversight procedures to prevent fraud, waste, and abuse in vehicle maintenance programs
Develop and implement policies and procedures for supervision and management of security service vehicle maintenance programs.
Identify and recommend training programs to help the host country develop and implement self-sustaining vehicle maintenance programs for their security services.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills:

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Negotiating, interpersonal and leadership skills.
Ability and willingness to train other individuals in their area of expertise.
Working knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Mastery of law enforcement principles, methods, and practices to provide subject matter expertise in advising, mentoring, planning, development, and oversight in law enforcement programs.
Ability to build and maintain key relationships in a culturally diverse environment and negotiate the resolution of conflicting views to enable the implementation of policies and programs.
Superior negotiation, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment.

Experience & Education:

Ten (10) years with direct vehicle fleet maintenance experience. Governmental experience preferred.
Five (5) years’ experience with related training development experience.
High school degree or equivalent.
Additional experience/education may be required by contract or assignment.
