SAIC has an opportunity avaiable for a Senior VMware Engineer to join our team in Charleston, SC.

In this role you will be responsible for maintaining the virtual infrastructure hardware, operating systems, and VMs on servers which support business processing requirements. May also assist with installations and configurations, and NetApp storage solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain reliable, secure and high performing systems in a multi-domain, multi-site Windows Active Directory environment that consists of SQL servers, NetApp storage arrays, VMware vCenter 5.5, and Windows 2008/2012 servers.

Maintain, upgrade, and implement improvements to the VMWare vCenter infrastructure.

Maintain, upgrade, and implement improvements to the VMWare ESXi infrastructure.

Maintain VM templates for building servers in the virtual environment.

Proactively monitor event logs for changes or errors and take appropriate actions to resolve issues.

Manage available virtual and storage resources within the infrastructure environment.

Collaborate with team members to resolve problems.

Perform upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages (ie. VDI components, Windows services, or other enterprise apps) as necessary.

Create and maintain system documentation for updates made to the infrastructure environment.

Additional duties/assignments as assigned and prioritized by management.

Education and Experience: Typical education and experience includes a Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of experience. 4 additonal years of experience may replace the degree requirement.

- 5+ years of experience installing, supporting, and maintaining VMWare and Tier I SAN storage solutions.

Must be 8570 Compliant Job Type: Full-time Fifteen (15) years of hands-on experience with task specific project, to include three (3) of the following four (4) areas: Systems Requirements, Operational Requirements, Test & Evaluation, and Training. Recognized expert who has demonstrated industry and public service leadership in relevant technical field.

Required Qualifications:

Solid hands-on technical background

Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMWare vCenter 5.x and VMWare vCenter 6.x)

Experience with system management tools such as Solarwinds, and VCenter (Microsoft WSUS and Microsoft SCCM is a bonus)

Knowledge of Microsoft server operating systems (Windows 2008/2012)

Knowledge of Windows infrastructure technologies (AD, DNS, MS Clustering)

Experience with Tier I SAN storage (NetApp), provisioning storage groups and LUNs Skills and Abilities
- Ability to write technical and operational management documentation (system design documents and operational runbooks).

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, in order to discuss/document technical information.

Ability to execute assignments within established timeframes and quality standards, while responding to immediate needs.

Organized and detail oriented with excellent time management skills.

Ability to multitask with propensity to handle urgent interruptions with poise and professionalism.

Desired Qualifications:

Netapp administration experience

Powershell and PowerCLI scripting experience

Clearance Requirement:

Must currently possess or be able to obtain a Secret security clearance
