About the Position:
Performance Excellence is a full time role with the main function of Digital Risk and Security within the Strategy and Planning area with a primary focus on performance excellence & process improvement.
In this role, you will interface with a wide range of staff and managers across Digital Risk and Security as well as support functions. You will support the identification and delivery of innovative, creative and sustainable solutions that create value for our customers and the wider business. This is a key role at the center of our organization with the opportunity to add significant value to the business; you will develop transferable skills of analysis, communication and cross-functional influencing. In addition, you will gain an appreciation of how the key business processes work and be instrumental in driving change.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Performance Excellence (PEx): Work with the management team to support the development and implementation of National’s Grid Performance Excellence Strategy. You will help teams on PEx and ensure that the new ways of working are established and retained within National Grid’s DR&S Organization.
Conduct data collection and analysis to support process improvements to reduce cost and complexity across the enterprise while driving efficiencies.
Draft and review project deliverables and analysis such as value-stream mapping and statistical analysis.
Directly responsible for delivering significant operational improvements and financial benefits to meet annual targets. For example; Type 1 (hard savings), Type 2 (cycle or process improvements that may or may not go to the bottom line), Type 3 (improvements such as customer satisfaction, cost avoidance fines, bad debt, etc.).
Interact with senior leadership and subject matter experts to develop solutions that improve process performance by increasing productivity and efficiency and/or managing process demand while enhancing the customer experience.
Develop an understanding of the operational work being performed and associated processes and garner the respect of field-based employees
Drive high quality results.
Ensure deployment of common solutions across the business
Identify and present new project opportunities to leadership.
Develop and share best practices among Process Managers.
Inspire confidence and lasting change with field crews on process improvements
Bachelor’s Degree Required, Master’s Degree Preferred
5+ Years of performance management experience (Baldridge, Lean, Six Sigma, Unipart way)
Six Sigma green belt, black belt - desired
Utility experience – desired
Cyber Security experience (architecture, governance risk and compliance, security operations, risk management - desired
Solid understanding of business processes – desired
Strong communication skills (verbal, written)
Strong leadership skills
Ability to work well in a matrixed team environment
