About the Position:
To develop strategies, perform analyses, develop plans and oversee the execution of gas distribution asset to enable National Grid to build and maintain a safe, reliable and robust system and optimize the return on investment from the assets related to distribution system.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Lead the analysis and develop strategies relate to distribution assets that include but not limited to mains, services, connection equipment and DIMP,to manage risk, meet regulatory obligations and deliver performance of the gas distribution system at optimum cost.
Make informed, authoritative technical asset plans for maintenance and capital investment for distribution asset to reduce risk and improve business performance in the medium term (up to five years) including estimates to level1 accuracy.
Translate the program requirements into clearly defined business cases, budgets, and an assessment of the impact on rate case development and risks to facilitate the planning process and develop strategies to mitigate risk.
Collect, compile, analyse and report distribution integrity information to Federal and State regulators as required.
Evaluate regulatory governance standards relevant to distribution assets and engage in regulatory processes to influence (as warranted) pending legislation and regulations and develop processes and plans to ensure compliance (e.g. accelerated Cast Iron mains replacement)
Lead, motivate and develop a professional team, prioritize work and allocate resources in order to ensure results are delivered in line with expectations and business objectives.
Analyze and monitor the distribution asset performance to recommend corrective action, identify trends and continuously improve the integrity of the system.
Direct and deliver a range of engineering services, and solutions to enable Operations to repair system integrity damage or substandard conditions and meet the required standards of maintenance and construction.
Monitor and track capital and O&M expenses for the program. Provide monthly PYE projections.
Participate in resource planning process to insure completion of the program related projects in accordance with work plans.
Provide technical leadership, develop staff by mentoring and coordinate educational opportunities.
Knowledge & Experience Required:
In-depth knowledge and deep technical experience of the service asset and demonstrates deep understanding of the issues impacting the gas distribution system.
Detailed knowledge and understanding of regulatory issues affecting the service asset integrity. Demonstrates the ability to anticipate obstacles and think ahead about next steps.
Is recognized as a credible and knowledgeable expert with respect to service asset integrity and builds collaborative networks across multiple geographies and sites.
Demonstrated ability to develop cost estimates for complex programs to level 1 accuracy
Detailed knowledge of safety policy and potential hazards of the gas service asset.
Experience of managing the work of a technical functional area and demonstrates taking specific actions to enable the team to function efficiently and effectively.
A Bachelor degree in an engineering discipline or science or technology and/or Professional Engineering (PE) License is a minimum requirement supplemented by a minimum of five years’ experience in engineering, design or project management. Advance degree and/or certification a plus.
