Enterprise Systems Design Engineer to support the IT Services organization on the JRDC program based at Schriever AFB, Colorado Springs.Duties include design, documentation, implementation and testing of enterprise class server infrastructure, virtualization and standard operating systems, and applications. Will primarily support MDA Remote Site Security systems and initiatives. Will be responsible for deriving system-level requirements from architectural guidelines and project objectives. Responsible for developing detailed designs with supporting implementation, test and transition plans. Will also be responsible for ushering proposed system changes through the Configuration Management process to successful implementation for transition to the O&M RBA
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Possess strong writing and verbal communication skills• Individual may require up to 30% travel in support of MDA remote site locations• DoD 8570 approved IA certification such as Security+ with Continuing Education (CE) or CISSP• Must possess a minimum DoD interim Secret level security clearance or be able to obtain one• Experience designing and implementing enterprise enclosures and servers, virtualization and standard operating systems, and applications
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of relevant IT experience or Associates Degree and 12 years of experience
Strong working knowledge and experience with VMware vSphere and ESXi
Management, HP enterprise blade systems, MS Windows Server 2008 or newer, and Linux. Solid understanding of various development life cycles such as the SDLC, SE V, ITIL, etc.
