This role is an integral part of a major initiative to enable the US Gas Business by improving how our employees serve our customers today and by creating the platform for tomorrow’s growth. You will drive this enablement program to deliver changes across people, process, systems and technology to create:
Enhanced Reliability – refresh and replace most of our core work and asset management systems to improve the reliability and enable enhanced public safety and a more robust service to our customers.
Enhanced Compliance – deliver significant system rationalization and simplification by enabling processes that are more intuitive to perform work in the right way and capture the required data; have visibility of all work; reduce complexity from multiple systems and processes.
Enhanced Customer Service – enhanced performance through better scheduling and dispatch processes, enabling an enhanced interface for our customers to interact directly with us to book appointments and work
Enable Continuous Improvement – relieve our loss of agility from multiple, inflexible, legacy systems that restrict opportunities to efficiently meet customer, regulatory and company needs.
Enhanced Employee Engagement – deliver a step change in service and engagement for our employees to help them serve our customers through solutions that are easy to use, have better information and can be taken on the job site.
Enable Future Growth – deliver systems to enable agility and growth through enhanced visibility and connectivity that will make it easier for employees, contractors and stakeholders to engage with National Grid to support the growing work plan.
Direct the management of a number of programs from initiation to completion that delivers business change and subsequent benefits. Achieved by leveraging the range of resources and experience across the full IS function while influencing key stakeholders to achieve successful delivery. Will also act as the Program Director for larger programs in a hands-on manner.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Leads the program team located across the US in translating business requirements into operational plans.
Directs, monitors and reviews all program activities, including program costs, operational budgets, staffing requirements, program resources, and program risks supported by comprehensive reporting.
Manages dependencies, risks, plans, costs and resourcing needs within the program.
Resolves resourcing and asset conflicts using prioritization and negotiation.
Ensures that the program implements changes which achieve the objectives that have been set and that the business benefits are realized.
Guides senior business stakeholders to solutions that maximize National Grid investments in technology and influences their direction towards reusable solutions.
Ensures effective transition planning to minimize risk.
Manages program changes through regular reassessment of program priorities, resolving conflicts.
Undertakes formal reviews of the program and its achievements.
Manages and influences stakeholders.
Operates as a role model for Valued Business Partner, championing similar behaviors across IS.
BS and educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
10 plus years in Program Management.
Proven track record of successfully leading large scale programs and managing portfolios of projects and programs.
Relevant industry certification (e.g. Managing Successful Programs, Prince 2) desirable.
Experience & Technical Knowledge Desired:
Extensive experience at successfully delivering challenging and complex technology programs/ business change involving working with globally based employees and development partners.
Has the ability to influence and manage senior stakeholders at Director/EVP level.
Has experience with agile development/delivery methodologies.
Has experience with integrating cloud based systems into the enterprise.
Has proven leadership, relationship, communication and presentation skills.
A good knowledge of the business and IS strategy and drivers.
Work successfully under National Grids policies, management structures and reporting procedures for all aspects of the Program’s environment. Demonstrate the Valued Business Partner capabilities and behaviors in all interactions with IS Colleagues, vendors and business stakeholders.
Each role will align with a business process lead from the US Gas Business Enablement program within a segment of Asset Management, Workforce Management, Customer Operations, and Supply Chain functional areas.
Manage internal and external delivery resources, of approximately 10 -20 resources ranging from analysts to Director level professionals.
