JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
An Electrician Apprentice assists in the installation of electrical equipment in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards.
•Basic knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, electrical theory, and industry standards for fire alarm systems installation or the ability to learn these codes and theories during a one year mentoring program.
•Must have a high school diploma or GED
•?Must be willing and able to attend apprenticeship school in the evenings.
•The ability to learn to trouble shoot circuitry and equipment, understanding of blue prints and wiring schematics and layout of fire alarm system equipment.
•Proficient computer skills to include intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Lync)
•Ability to perform basic level calculations including: Battery, NAC panel and system standby requirements.
•Ability to learn to operate various types of test equipment including multimeter, audibility and intelligibility test equipment, smoke sensitivity tester, white noise generator, etc.,
•Clean driving record allowing candidate to operate an M.C. Dean vehicle upon date of hire.
Service Division Life Safety Operations Unit Manager, Life Safety Superintendent
The ideal candidate would have:
•The ability to obtain Level I certification in fire alarm systems from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) upon completion of one year of employment
•Basic knowledge of Silent Knight and Notifier legacy systems (AFP-100, AFP-200, AFP-400, AFP1010 AM2020) or ability to learn these systems under supervision of a lead technician
•The ability to obtain certification in programming Vesda air sampling systems upon completion of manufacturer training
•The ability to obtain certification in programming Notifier fire alarm systems upon completion of manufacturer training
•Learn basic programming skills with other fire alarm manufacturer's equipment (Silent Knight, Gamewell, Firelite, etc.,)
•The desire to continually improve his/her knowledge of fire alarm system theory, adapt to changes and improvements to system architecture and possess the skill set to eventually obtain NICET Level III in fire alarm systems
