ManTech's Mission Solutions Services Group (MSS) is seeking an Operations Research Analyst in Stafford, VA.

Candidate's responsibilities will include the following:
• Serve as key member of an analytical team structured to perform military operations research analysis
• Given a problem, project or study in which significant variables must be investigated, is able to examine underlying relationships and select appropriate methods or techniques from a variety of possible alternatives and be able to draw conclusions
• Display originality in modifying or adapting problem solving or other mathematical techniques to fit specific situations
• Work with military customers of studies to help translate their questions and problems into analytically tractable study issues
• Ensure that results are presented to decision makers in a balanced, clear, meaningful manner, free from bias

Capabilities for the position include:
• Competence in the rigorous methods of scientific inquiry and operational analysis rather than in the detailed subject matter of the problems. Therefore, applicants should have sufficient knowledge of the fundamental concepts and techniques of operations research and applied mathematics to be able to apply this knowledge to military defense questions and problems
• Desired --Good working knowledge and experience working with NSS, BRAWLER and/or STORM
• DESIRED -- Good working knowledge of military organizations, and operations in general as well as the DoD establishment. Particular knowledge of the Naval Service and Naval Aviation is desirable. As is awareness of Analytic Agenda, Defense Planning Scenarios, OPLANS and CONPLANS, and application of war gaming, modeling and simulation

• Conducts moderately complex logical analysis of management problems and management information requirements and formulates mathematical models of problems for solutions by computer
• Prepares mathematical models of problem areas in forms of one of several equations that relate constants and variables, restrictions, alternatives, conflicting objectives and their numerical parameters
• Gathers, relates, identifies data with variables in models by applying personal judgment and mathematical tests
• Reviews operations and testing of models to insure adequacy, or determines needs for reformulation. Coordinates activity of other assigned personnel
• Prepares written, non-technical reports to management, indicating solutions or range of possible alternatives in rank of desirability and probability of success when there is no single solution. Works independently on large, complex operations research projects with management review of end results
