Senior HPC System Administrator (Job Number:421933)
The scope of this task involves supporting the HPCC systems that provide both, the computing hardware and software resources and the high performance computing (HPC) computational environment for the Engineers and Scientists at SSC Pacific.
The individual will work to maintain and enhance the SSC Pacific dedicated HPCC systems as well as general purpose networks. This key role will provide the following support:
- Provide impact assessment analysis.
- Provide new hardware and software modernization requirements.
- Provide HPCC system administration and testing necessary to update or enhance the HPCC systems and associated networks, including hardware and software in response to new HPC requirements or new organizational requirements.
- Perform technical reviews of HPCC strategies and provide support to resolve HPC interface problems.
- Verify updated specifications and the definition of test requirements and test plans for the various HPC platforms.
- Maintain and update the technical HPC documentation.
- Required to meet the applicable information assurance certification requirements, including: DoD-approved information assurance workforce certifications DoD 8570
This key individual will have at least four years of experience working on HPC and Virtualization technologies and processes in support of UNIX/Linux-type operating systems; They will perform HPC and/or Virtualization Maintenance and troubleshooting procedures, create user interfaces; monitor, review, and implementing security problems reports such as CERT; They will perform security hardening of computer systems and investigating security problems. This job includes the tasks of (with at least 2 years of experience (within the past five calendar years) working with virtual operating systems and components; understand and implement current Security concepts and software such as MLS/CDS, and PKI interfaces, automated policy configuration; node provisioning; working at the system level with the main components of cluster computers and associated peripherals, differentiating between hardware and software problems on such systems; storage system design and optimization specifically with parallel file systems; system programming and system administration functions including: setup and administration on SAN disk arrays, workload scheduling and job-queuing software, and performance monitoring and tuning to optimize system performance. The work will include working in a Linux production environment with VMWare. Duties include (with at least three year experience-within the past five calendar years) Creating and editing documentation of SOP's, User Manuals, Systems and resolution of assigned tasks. Other tasks include (with at least 2 years of experience) performing software configuration management and promotion processes, for instance, submitting code for software review board to include test plans. Must be rated at IAT Level II.
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience
Must currently possess an ACTIVE Secret security clearance.
