The Configuration Manager/Release Manager (CM/RM) has agile scrum experience and manages project configuration items within the Rational Toolset and oversees the process of how our team checks-in, checks-out and updates artifacts supporting VACOLS enhancements. The CM/RM creates and monitors the baseline of software and non-software configurable items and is responsible to track and report activities and artifacts. The CM/RM manages release activities for each build and schedules POLARIS calendar updates. The CM/RM coordinates with the VA Release Agent and other VA groups on release readiness and timely submission of artifacts according to VIP guidelines. The Configuration Manager will perform and support all activities related to configuration management (CM), including setting up source code control system software, administering the software, developing build tools/utilities and performing web application builds.
Document all processes and procedures within the Configuration Management Plan
Installs and configures configuration management (CM) using the IBM Rational Team Concert Tools. Requests appropriate access for team members to the tools
Responsible for process to migrate project configurable items to RTC if necessary.
Ensure all project artifacts are properly versioned and tracked.
Generate reports on artifact modifications in the RTC jazz tools from original baseline of project
Design, configure, implement, automate and administer build systems, infrastructure and environments for Continuous Integration and Deployment Practices.
Creating and updating build jobs and build workflows as required.
Develop Build Plans for each product release to include User Stories for the release, Acceptance Criteria, and release readiness documentation based on VIP requirements.
Support automation of build and deployment process.
Responsible for scheduling and creating required documentation for deployments to specific environments
Document and provide status of the deployment to management.
Document issues surfaced during deployment.
Support build related software installations and upgrades.
Work with application teams to implement application builds using VA TRM approved tools.
Provide 24×7 on call support.
Ability to apply complex principles, theories and concepts of the Agile, CI and CD disciplines and provide solutions to a wide range of complex problems.
VIP, PMAS/Propath experience
Strong UNIX skills a must
3 or more years of experience scripting and automating application builds using various languages and tools such as Maven, Shell and Perl scripts
3 or more years of experience in the major AIX, Linux, Solaris environments
Proficient with source code management systems such as Subversion and Git
Strong interpersonal skills and effective team player
Good verbal/written communication skills
Strong prioritization skills with a clear ability to communicate clearly and concisely
Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting and problem solving skills
The ability to obtain a Tier 2/Moderate/MBI clearance
