Serves as an expert resource for registration duties to include patient registration, obtain precertification, obtain proper authorizations, insurance verification and preliminary financial counseling services to ensure that Parkland¿s financial viability is secure at the most basic level.



-Must have five years of customer service experience, to include experience in a hospital business office or physician business office.
-Must have two years of patient registration, interviewing, insurance verification, and/or managed care experience.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience:
-May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.


Skills or Special Abilities:
-Must be able to demonstrate expert level knowledge regarding the patient registration function.
-Must demonstrate ability to type 20 words per minute with a maximum of 3 errors.
-Must be able to successfully pass a Customer Service test.
-Must score 80% on pre-employment spelling test.
-Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of personal computers and other standard office equipment.
-Must have knowledge of medical software.
-Must demonstrate a positive demeanor, good verbal and written communication skills, and be professional in both appearance and approach.
-Must be detail oriented, possess mathematical skills, and have sharp analytical skills to resolve registration issues as they relate to multiple groups including third party payors, physicians, patients and the System.
-Must be able to handle potentially stressful situations and multiple tasks simultaneously.
-Must be able to solve problems within the guidelines of established policies and procedures.
-Basic medical terminology knowledge preferred.
-Knowledge of third party payors and insurance verification skills preferred.
-Bilingual skills preferred.
