Responsible for systematic inspection, testing, detection, and corrections of problems before they become major issues, creating downtime.  Maintenance Technician III - Mechanic/Electrician is expected to work in a safe manner with voltages from 5 volts dc up to 600 volts ac with little or no supervision.  The position would also require work on projects, as well as the installation of electrical components associated with controls and automation.



  • Install, startup and shut down equipment in accordance with company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and program Motor Drives, PLC's, etc...  Must be able to repair and service automatic control devices such as photoelectric equipment, proximity switches, etc...  Test electrical equipment up to 600 volts to ensure proper operation.
  • Run conduit and pull wire to NEC standards.
  • All Maintenance positions are required to become familiar with all nine production jobs and learn the basic operation and flow of product through our processing system.
  • Must be proficient in 8 out of 9 of the following skills:  Machine Shop, Mechanical, Building Maintenance, Welding, Industrial Electrical, Pipefitting and Plumbing, Industrial Refrigeration, Blueprint Reading and Layout, and Electrical Instrumentation.
  • Must qualify as a forklift driver and be trained on the scissor lift.
  • Must be able to work at various heights from ladders, scaffolding, or from a skyjack.  Able to work in confined areas.
  • Keep shop machinery lubricated and operating properly.
  • Continuously improve knowledge and skills, staying current on available technology.
  • Ability to work longer hours and weekends as needed.



  • Read and interpret sketches, blueprints, and electrical wiring diagrams, both construction and schematic.
  • Requires a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, and principles of operation.  Thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic components and equipment, including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes.  Working knowledge of various PLC control systems and proficient in variable speed drives.

  • Understands equipment hazards to prevent injury to self and others - understands Company Policies on safety and follows procedures - GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and Lock Out/Tag Out.
  • Maintains clean work environment and follows safety standards.
  • Is able to safely lift items up to 55 pounds.
  • Ability to complete Company training courses as required.



  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two years of combined technical college and/or experience within a maintenance classification.
  • Acceptable score on ConAgra Foods electrical and mechanical aptitude tests.
