PRIMARY PURPOSEResponsible for quality management of healthcare issues for patients in designated primary or specialty area, including patient diagnoses, treatment, education and referrals to ensure optimal patient medical management consistent with the Parkland mission of patient centered/patient valued care.MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONSEducation:-Must have completed an accredited graduate or post-graduate level Nurse Practitioner program. -Must have a Master's degree in Nursing. Experience:-NoneEquivalent Experience:-If hired at Parkland before March 1, 2014, may have an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification/Registration/Licensure:-Must have current, valid RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing; or, a valid Compact RN license.-Must have a current license from the Texas Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with authorization to practice as a Pediatric, Neonatal or Family Nurse Practitioner.-Must have active certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the National Certification Board for the acceptable role:-Pediatric Nurse Practitioner ¿ Primary Care (PNP-PC or PPCNP) by Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) ¿ or ¿-Pediatric Nurse Practitioner ¿ Acute Care (PNP-AC) by Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCP) ¿ or ¿-Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) by National Certification Corporation (NCC) ¿ or ¿-Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) by American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program (AANPCP)-Must have current healthcare provider CPR certification from one of the following:oAmerican Heart Association oAmerican Red Cross oMilitary Training Network -Must obtain Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification within 45 days of employment and maintain current certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).-Must meet and maintain licensing and registration requirements as delineated by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, and Credentialing Policies/Procedures, if any.Skills or Special Abilities:-Provides care to assigned patient population in accordance with the current State of Texas Nurse Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plan of care, and clinical area specific standards. -Must be able to function independently and as a member of the PHHS healthcare team.-Must have effective written and verbal communication skills in working with a diverse population of patients and families, nurses, physicians and community agencies. -Must have knowledge and skill in educating patients and families. -Must demonstrate superior clinical skills in the medical management of acutely ill infants. -Must demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.-Must be able to manage time effectively to ensure optimal use of patient and provider resources while prioritizing appropriately and balancing clinical and non-clinical responsibilities.
