Rockwell Collins IMS (formerly ARINC) is seeking a Communication Systems Engineer to support their Data Engineering department located in Annapolis, Maryland. Data Engineering is a SEI/CMM level 3 engineering organization within the Commercial Airline and Network Services business unit of Rockwell Collins IMS. The Commercial Airline and Network Services business unit provides communication products and services for commercial airline customers. Data Engineering provides the engineering for a high availability 24x7 data link service, called GLOBALink, that enables air crews to communicate and exchange information with ground crews and airline host systems anywhere in the world and without interruption. GLOBALink provides clear, accurate, unambiguous data communications directly to the crew, improves flight deck processes and increases airline efficiency. GLOBALink provides datalink communication to aircraft via VHF radios, satellite links, and HF radios. Optimal utilization of the scarce bandwidth available for each of these media is imperative. Meeting customer expectations for performance and cost is also required.
The Communication Systems Engineer will:
? Perform engineering analysis of the GLOBALink service.
? Become fluent in GLOBALink?s communication protocols, including ACARS/VDL/ATN/FANS/CPDLC.
? Develop SQL queries to gather engineering performance data.
? Analyze individual aircraft and airline fleet performance issues.
