Responsible for the overall strategic and operational direction and daily activities of designated departments within Perioperative Services. Leadership of this service includes planning, budgeting, human resource management, quality improvement, coordination of clinical services, policy development/implementation and collaboration with physicians and administration to ensure high quality, patient-centered services.
-Must have a minimum of Master¿s degree in Nursing, Business, Healthcare Administration or related field.
-Must have ten years of progressively responsible nursing experience to include five years of management experience.
-Perioperative Services management experience required to include focus on operative as well as diagnostic areas such as GI lab and cardiac catheterization lab
-Experience with ambulatory surgery preferred.
-Knowledge of sterile processing systems and scheduling logistics required.
-Must have current, valid RN license or temporary RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing; or, valid Compact RN license.
-Must have Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) course certification for IS-700.A: National Incident Management System (NIMS) An Introduction within 30 days of placement in role.
-Must have Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) course certification for IS-100.HCB: Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS 100) for Healthcare/Hospitals within 30 days of placement in role.
-Must have Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) course certification for IS-200.HCA: Applying ICS to Healthcare Organizations (ICS 200) within 30 days of placement in role.
Skills or Special Abilities:
-Provides care to assigned patient population in accordance with the current State of Texas Nurse Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plan of care, and clinical area specific standards.
-Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in working with a diverse population of physicians, nurses, and support staff.
-Must demonstrate knowledge and skill in resource management including budget and human resource management.
-Must have effective leadership skills and be capable of motivating, recruiting and educating staff.
-Must demonstrate knowledge of Parkland policies, structure, procedures and mission.
-Must demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
-Must be able to gather and analyze data to make appropriate and effective decisions.
-Must be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of nursing and nursing administration.
-Must be able to think creatively and strategically, in order to develop and implement management procedures.
-Must have working knowledge of hospital organizations and operations, administrative standards, regulations and practices within three months of job assignment.
