Responsible for quality management of healthcare issues for patients in designated primary or specialty area, including patient diagnoses, treatment, education and referrals to ensure optimal patient medical management consistent with the Parkland mission of patient centered/patient valued care.

-Must have completed a graduate or post-graduate level Nurse Practitioner educational program accredited by a national nursing education accrediting body that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Board of Nursing. 
-Must have a Master's degree in Nursing.

-Must have three years of Nurse Practitioner clinical experience in a similar specialty area or five years of Nurse Practitioner clinical experience in another area. 

Equivalent Experience:
-If hired at Parkland before March 1, 2014, may have an equivalent combination of education and experience.

-Must have current, valid RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing; or, valid Compact RN license.
-Must have a current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with authorization to practice as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner by the Texas Board of Nursing.
-Must have active certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner by American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Association of Critical Care Nurses Certification Corporation (AACNCC).

- Must have current CPR-Healthcare Provider (CPR-HP) certification. from one of the following:
o American Heart Association
o American Red Cross Rescuer
o Military Training Network.

-Must have current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support System (ACLS).
-Must have certification in Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS) or must audit an Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course within one year of placement in role and provide documentation of completion.
-Must meet and maintain licensing and registration requirements as delineated by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, and Credentialing Policies/Procedures, if any.

Skills or Special Abilities:
-Must be able to function independently and as a member of the PHHS healthcare team.
-Must have effective written and verbal communication skills in working with a diverse population of patients and families, nurses, physicians and community agencies. 
-Must have knowledge and skill in educating patients and families. 
-Must demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
