Leads and applies multiple methods, both quantitative and qualitative, to analyze, plan, and experiment with policies and practices focused on improving the processes, quality, and outcomes of health care. Obtains external research funding, publishes research in peer-reviewed journals, and provides national leadership in health services research.


-Must have a Ph.D. in Health Services Research (HSR), Health Economics/Clinical Effectiveness, Clinical Epidemiology, or Health Services Policy & Management. 

-Must have four years of HSR experience with heavy emphasis on writing.  
-Must have experience in healthcare quality and implementation improvement, comparative effectiveness research, health economics and disparities, informatics, and information technology evaluation.
-Must have experience preparing scientific publications, including summarizing and interpreting complex clinical data.
-Must have experience in grant writing and obtaining grant approvals.  Must have clear evidence of helping teams receive major grants from organizations such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Commonwealth, and Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).
-Must have experience writing for peer reviewed manuscripts.
-Must be published in a major health services research journal, medical or informatics journal.  Must have evidence of literature review papers and/or trial evaluation papers.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience:
-May have an equivalent combination of education and experience to substitute for both the education and the experience requirements. 


Skills or Special Abilities:
-Must have a strong interest in Health Service Research.
-Must exhibit potential for a distinguished record of scholarship.
-Must have strong methodological skills in experimental and observational designs, intervention research, survey methodology, and statistical analysis.
-Must have knowledge of applied information technology, database management, electronic data collection, and/or human factors.
-Must be able to demonstrate superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive  documents.
-Must have knowledge of data gathering methods and analytical and evaluation techniques to draw valid conclusions.
-Must have exceptional analytical, strategic and tactical ability, combined with expert relationship management skills, and attention to detail.
-Must be familiar with medical/social health care delivery and research design.
-Must have a strong technical knowledge of company operations, understanding of healthcare inpatient and outpatient operations and regulatory requirements.
-Must be resilient, with the ability to work to deadlines and maintain high levels of professionalism while managing multiple demands.
-Must be able to work autonomously with moderate supervision as well as in a team setting.
-Must have excellent organizational and time management skills.
-Prefer knowledge of Stata & R software.
