The Quality Control / Lean Production Coordinator is responsible for monitoring quality control activities to ensure timely audits, identifying wastes and process accuracy deficiencies, and ensuring operational team members follow all policies and SOPs. The incumbent plays a key role in driving the change in culture around quality. The role will own all SOPs and work with the operation to identify and implement changes as needed to improve quality within the operation. Candidate must have experience supporting/implementing a Quality Management system. In addition, the job consists of developing and implementing an action plan for lean process improvement, and work with management to identify, develop and implement continuous improvement projects, cost reductions, product quality enhancements, and process effectiveness improvement. They will facilitate and manage LEAN activities, ensure on-time completion, report results to our client Steering Committee, implement communication tools to foster the lean environment, and improve a lean culture.

Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.

Approves in-process and finished products / kits by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to kitting / production supervisor.

Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.

Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products, and recommend necessary corrective actions.

Partner with assigned business unit on the implementation of lean manufacturing, and lean business process efforts. Work with colleagues to help identify, realize and optimize lean solutions within the economic capability of the plant.

Support the promotion of lean culture in the organization by working with business areas to complete events and projects required to implement the Future State Plans.

Learn and apply Lean principles and tools such as those listed for implementing creative solutions for system and process improvements: Standard work, Ergonomics, 3-P, TPM, SMED, KANBAN, Value Stream Mapping, and 5-S.

Use Lean principles to perform process reviews and aid in establishing standardized work procedures.

Participate in Lean audits, 5S activities, and daily GEMBA walks.

Point of contact for all customer quality issues; responsible for providing and implementing corrective action plan.

Works in partnership with the operations to determine the areas of opportunity for quality improvements that will lead to an improvement in KPIs.

Lead all quality related initiatives, conduct monthly quality meetings, set objectives, provide guidance on issues, develop and implement specific strategies for each process.

Owner of all process documents and responsible for ensuring updates are made as processes change.

Provide timely communication of process deficiencies to the operational team.

Identify personnel whose quality is negatively impacting the operation.

Collaborate with team members to standardize all operational processes in order to enforce process
discipline (participation in 5S Audits and providing feedback regarding audit scores).

Collaborate with team to improve operational processes through Continuous improvement activities.

Bachelor degree preferred.
Certifications in Lean, 5S or Six Sigma methodologies.
A minimum of 4 years of experience working in a high-volume distribution center / manufacturing, or large retail operation.

This is a hands-on position that requires qualified candidates to be on the manufacturing floor the majority of their day.
Must be detail-oriented and able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
Strong written and oral communications required.
Computer skills required, to include Microsoft office experience and warehouse management systems experience.
