Federal Resources is seeking qualified candidates to fill an Eastern Seaboard Navy Fleet sales role with territory spanning from Norfolk, Virginia to Bath, Maine. This role is responsible for selling / marketing Federal Resource's brand and services. Target clients include new ship construction firms, ship repair yards supporting the U.S. Navy, commercial maritime business as well as the ship/owner operators in the region. Frequent travel would be required to the shipyards, ship owner/operators and naval architects on the East Coast. The ideal candidate would have a strong industry knowledge / experience, understand the complexities of navy contracting and have an existing contacts based at key shipyards and maritime customers.
Develop relationships with U.S. Navy personnel and personnel at Naval shipyards and repair facilities including Port Engineers, Program Managers, Project Engineers and buying authorities.
Creatively address customer problems, becoming a true resource and solutions provider.
Understand contract/funding methods and assist customers in their use.
Partner with suppliers to provide best products & values to meet customer requirements.
Determine innovative strategies to win business.
Become familiar with the traditional Maritime products / solutions as well as the safety products applicable to the customers’ requirements.
Generate and present quotes to customers.
Work together with other FR Sales Verticals to maximize sales potential across the FR brand.
Regularly follow up on past sales to assure complete customer satisfaction.
Be aware of new ship building and maintenance programs and engage FR in the process in the technical design process.
Develop territory via extensive research and utilization of all FR resources.
Monitor and report on market and competitive activities.
Must be highly competitive, challenge-oriented individual capable of working with minimal supervision.
Must be able to communicate at all organizational tiers.
Must possess strong strategic and analytical skills required to find creative and effective solutions to customers problems.
Must understand defense procurement at the shipyard and government level.
Five years of direct sales experience to shipyards, ship owner/operators and the Navy is preferred.
50 – 75% Travel is a requirement with subsequent trip reporting a must.
Bachelor degree preferred, but equivalent prior specific sales experience may be substituted.
