About the Position:
Develop and implement a detailed strategy plan to secure incremental contractor resources for incumbents and potential new contractor resource alternatives across all regions. You will partner closely with functional, jurisdictions, gas operations, procurement, safety, and the resource planning organizations to develop effective workforce strategy. You will partner closely with our contractors to ensure they are staffing their teams for success to meet our work plan requirements. The ultimate goal of this role is to assemble the best teams, balancing our project and client’s needs along with our team member’s career passions.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to);
Conduct situation analysis of external and internal factors affecting business identify such economic conditions, legislative environment, industry outlook, competitive climate, market conditions , trends in technology, competencies and workforce competition to provide meaningful/actionable insight and trends.
Define the workforce planning strategy, for the regions within the roles responsibility; to ensure contractors meets resourcing needs of the business.
Develop functional/jurisdictional workforce plans for key/mission critical and hard to fill positions.
Work collaboratively with Operations, Procurement and the business Resource Planning Managers to ensure the workforce planning agenda is developed, facilitated and implemented effectively in the business functions.
Produce high level and detailed business models to support senior management in defining strategies relevant to area or discipline.
Develop and utilize peer group network in order to absorb and apply best practice within own area of specialism.
Work with business units to translate objectives into well defined requirements with clearly defined business cases in order to support change and innovation within National Grid.
Develop and manage ongoing relationships with key stakeholders in order to identify and deliver solutions that benefit all parties.
Manage, balance and coordinate controls around external construction resources to optimize progress on short and long term capital work and overall compliance.
Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better in order to drive greater efficiencies within assigned area.
Ensure contractors are able to align with safety standards, policies and processes in order to ensure that the execution of the work plans will promote a safe working environment and minimize risk for all staff
Impact and Influence: Uses direct persuasion to influence others involved in the construction process, using basic data, logic or examples of prior outcomes to support the approach outlined in the resource strategy plan.
Knowledge and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree or 8 to 10 years equivalent experience gas construction environment with 3 to 5 years in recruitment.
Knowledge of workforce planning processes and methodology.
Thinks strategically with the ability to analyze data and interpret key themes that emerge
Demonstrates excellent analytical capability with experience of building business recruitment solutions.
Demonstrates the ability to network internally and externally. Recognizes and actively seeks to join and attend external forums / practice groups.
Demonstrates the ability to develop successful, long-lasting business relationships / partnerships with others and seeks to understand and challenge business scenarios to the benefit of all parties.
Strong communication skills and problem solving.
Ability to multi-task, adapt quickly to changing demand, detail oriented and a strong work ethic.
