About the Position:
Supervise team of processors responsible for the posting of nonutility payments, incoming wire and ACH payments, and balancing the daily incoming cash receipts to the customer systems.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Supervise staff that is responsible for processing all nonutility un-posted payments and returned check processing, and Energy Assistance payment processing. Staff also performs payment investigations for nonutility invoices, processes refunds for nonutility customers, communicates excess credits to billing owners and processes Accounts Payable overpayments.
Process incoming ACH and wire payments for utility and nonutility customers. Assist with ACH setup and manage general ledgers to ensure prompt posting.
Manage daily cash file balancing and cash reporting; Ensure systems and processes are well controlled and communicate with Cash Accounting at month end to ensure that Cash and Revenue Accounting can book appropriate monthly accruals.
Oversee the Intercompany process for payment transfer between customer systems and SAP. Ensure daily and monthly balancing is accurate and interfaces with Revenue Accounting at month end.
Develop and maintain the integrity and integration of payments processing activities with systems and departments (treasury, customer contact, credit and collections, and billing) across National Grid to minimize irregularities, inefficiency and errors in payments processing and finance.
Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better in order to drive greater efficiencies within assigned area.
Review and update procedural documentation on an annual basis according to policies and guidelines.
Ensure systems and processes are well controlled and compliant with all regulations and laws, including Sarbanes Oxley.
Lead, motivate and develop a professional team, prioritize work and allocate resources in order to ensure results are delivered in line with expectations and customer/business objectives. Execute instructions and requests, plan and organize resources and make appropriate arrangements to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and in line with relevant policies and processes.
Knowledge & Experience Required:
A Bachelor's degree in a related area required and up to 5 years of related supervisory experience.
In-depth experience of a field or multiple fields of work processes.
Knowledge of relevant industry practice and legislation. Knowledge of current trends within the industry and developments in legislation or regulation.
Proficient in relevant software e.g. Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Experience and proficiency in relevant company related IT systems.
