Job Summary:

Responsible for eliminating all causes of failure and ensuring full useful life in coordination with daily maintenance completed by operating personnel; Leads activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment; Provides technical and problem solving support for the plant and maintenance crews; Supports and executes plant specific maintenance strategies to achieve Plant’s key performance goals for overall maintenance performance; Assures production schedules are met and all issues are resolved and communicated in a timely fashion; Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards; Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.


Position Responsiblities:

1. Food Safety & Quality.
o Responsible for food safety and quality.
o Shall complete an orientation process which provides training in the Key Concepts of Food Safety and Quality.
o Shall understand that identification of any failures in these areas is their responsibility
o If they identify a deficiency in Food Safety and/or Quality, they are responsible for taking corrective action and reporting the issue to their direct supervisor or Quality supervisor.
o The Quality Manual is available to this employee on the shared Marshall Network drive.
o Monitor production work methods to manage overall product to meet USDA and quality objectives.

2. Efficiency.
o Assign work force efficiently and within Labor Agreement compliance.
o Ensure equipment and facilities are properly maintained.

3. Personnel Development.
o Promote teamwork to achieve Company’s goals and objectives.
o Train, motivate, and direct line employees for safe, effective, and efficient performance.
o Recognize good performance and take corrective action when needed.
o Monitor performance and skill levels of maintenance employees.

4. Compliance.
o Maintain a good working relationship with USDA and Quality Assurance.
o Coordinate teamwork efforts for a quality product within company specifications.
o Ensure compliance with plant policies by administering corrective action in a timely manner.

5. Safety.
o Monitor safety of machinery and equipment.
o Monitor and train respective employees in established safe work procedures.
o Enforce the plant's safety program.
o Identify and implement corrective action on work hazards.
o Assure and enforce safety standards and compliance with plant safety program.
o Participate in and support all safety programs.

6. Recordkeeping.
o Coordinate efforts with payroll to assure accurate time and attendance.


To keep equipment operational and efficient while staying within the maintenance budget, plant standards, safety requirements, and within the constraints of the Labor Agreement; rebuilding equipment from other locations and installing new equipment; Making recommendations for continuous improvement of production processes.


Directly supervises 10 to 15 employees in the Maintenance Department; Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws; Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Authority for scheduling subordinates and determining overtime, authorizing preventive maintenance and ordering parts when needed, and evaluating employees for upgrade from one level of mechanic to another; Decisions, including stopping a production line to avoid personal injury or equipment damage and constructing, fabricating, or installing new equipment; Major equipment repairs must be referred to the General Maintenance Supervisor, Operations Manager, or Plant Manager; Refers to Human Resources Department for severe disciplinary action.


Position Qualifications:


Bachelor or Associate’s degree in Industrial Technology or a related field and four to six years related experience in manufacturing maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience; Must have knowledge of production line maintenance, electrical and electronic principles, and experience in supervision; Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization; Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry; Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, and feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
