GIS Analyst (Job Number:422442)



Performs environmental analysis, typically in assessing, analyzing, researching and ensuring environmental policy compliance with pertinent Federal, state and local environmental regulations, which may include CERCLA, CAA, and RCRA. May perform research and assessment of data; develop or prepare reports, surveys, descriptive charts, figures or matrices for compliance and specific application of these items. May involve preparation of information in support of environmental policy development or administration, including litigation support. May include permitting procedures for projects. Must have knowledge of Federal, state and local environmental regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide support to the EIMS (Environmental Information Management System)

Data Working Integrated Product Team (WIPT) in the form of data assessment for the EIMS

Acquire and validate data needs as specified in EIMS design documents, execution plans, and as research and development evolves

Perform routine Data SOPs

Assist in maintaining the EIMS Data Library

Create, acquire, and review data designed to be hosted in various systems

Participates in weekly EIMS Data WIPT meetings, and other meetings relevant to EIMS as directed by the customer

Provide QA\QC on Navy Fleet GIS deliverables, as it relates to Appendix A v4.0

Integrate Navy Fleet deliverables into EIMS Spatial Database Engine (SDE) using ESRI suite of applications

Provide GIS data editing proficiency in the ESRI multi-user geodatabase environment(s)

Maintain and migrate EIMS Common Operating Picture (COP) as it relates to Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE) standards

Support the United States Navy efforts with updating and maintaining geospatial information (GI) and other related data relevant to NEPA

Create/Update large data sets for all Fleet Areas of Responsibilities (AOR)

Assist in the geospatial system component testing


Bachelor’s degree in Geography or related field with a minimum 3 years’ of relevant experience. Four additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.


Experience in Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) products to include: ArcGIS desktop, ArcCatalog, ArcToolbox, ArcMap, and ArcSDE

Experience in efficient and normalized data organization with experience in maintaining ESRI Spatial Database Engines

Specific knowledge and experience with SDSFIE 1.95, 2.6, and 3.01 Standards


Must currently possess or be able to obtain a Secret security clearance.
