Software Engineer (Job Number:422563)
SAIC is looking for a Software Engineer in Vicksburg, MS, Stennis, MS, Dayton, OH, APG, MD and Maui, HI.
This candidate designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs application software. Conducts analysis and collaborates with subject matter experts in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for information storage, processing, presentation, manipulation, display, or reporting. End product may be special use, customized, or commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops autonomous services, desktop applications, web applications, scripts, and utility programs. Ensures software standards are met.
This candidate is responsible for the following:
(a) Designs, develops, enhances, debugs, implements, and maintains software. Troubleshoots production problems related to software applications.
(b) Researches, tests, builds, and coordinates the conversion and/or integration of new products based on client requirements. Designs and develops new software products or major enhancements to existing software.
(c) Addresses problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platforms.
(d) Consults with project teams and end users to identify application requirements.
(e) Performs feasibility analysis on potential future projects to management.
(f) Assists in the evaluation and recommendation of application software packages, application integration and testing tools.
(g) Resolves problems with software and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.
(h) Acts as team leader on projects.
(i) Instructs, assigns, directs, and checks the work of other software developers on development team.
(j) Participates in development of software user manuals.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience
Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments. Plans and leads major technology assignments. Evaluates performance results and recommends major changes affecting short-term project growth and success. Functions as a technical expert across multiple project assignments. May supervise others.
