ManTech is seeking a Full Time Team Leader to provide Scientific, Engineering, and Technical Assistance (SETA) to various government customers. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) relies on small, agile, and effective SETA support teams to work closely with Government Program Managers to enable successful program formulation and execution. These SETA teams provide technical and programmatic support to Program Managers and are integral to the day-to-day activities of the combined Government team involved with each program. As part of the overall Government team, SETAs also collaborate with the Industry partners developing the technologies and systems. For more information on what SETAs are and do:

General Responsibilities: You will lead a team of SETAs supporting 1 to 2 aerospace programs at DARPA. As SETA team lead, you will carefully balance program needs, Program Manager (PM) desires, and the capabilities available to you from the extended SETA and Government roster, to ensure that programs and the PM are successful within the SETA budget. This will require you to have the necessary technical background to understand the activities Industry is undertaking, and a calm and thoughtful approach to all stakeholders.

  • Lead the team, develop new concepts, manage the program, and find transition partners.
  • Provide programmatic support to the government Program Manager.
  • Organize team activities for the government PM.
  • Assist in the management of all performing contractors, SETAs, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure proper coordination of activity and maintain Program Manager visibility on status and issues. Maintain control of all critical program documentation.
  • Maintain an up to date master schedule and track status of all tasks.
  • Identify risks and coordinate mitigation plans and approaches.
  • Support and coordinate milestone and executive reviews.
  • Coordinate meetings, teleconferences, and travel.
  • Provide inputs to the program manager in response to all calls for information regarding program activity, including weekly activity reports, information requests, and Congressional inquiries.
  • Ensure program security compliance including classified, proprietary, ITAR restricted, and source selection sensitive material.
  • Tailor briefing materials for specific audiences, and coordinate and support briefings at internal and external venues.
  • Must have a detailed understanding of government acquisition and DARPA processes.

Mandatory Background, Competencies, and Skills:

  • An engineering background applicable to atmospheric flight and/or spaceflight with at least one advanced degree.
  • Prior programmatic experience in either Industry or Government, leading significant programs through phases such as Preliminary Design Review and Critical Design Review.
  • At least 7 years of significant related experience.
  • Significant program experience in one or more of the following areas:

o Hypersonics

o Space launch/space access

o Unmanned aerospace vehicles

o Spacecraft and space missions

· Ability to develop and maintain rapport with a diverse array of business and technical personnel to include:

o Contractor Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), both full-time and part-time/consulting

o Government SMEs and contracting/business personnel

o Leadership within the Office and Agency

  • Prior Military or Government service experience with operator’s perspective on military aerospace systems.
  • Test program planning and execution.
  • Balance budgets and make resource allocation decisions.

Education Requirements: The candidate must have, at minimum, a BS Degree; MS degree strongly desired, with a focus in Aeronautical/Aerospace/Astronautical/Systems Engineering preferred.

  • This position requires a passion for technology, demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and effective decision-making.
  • Must be a team player with strong work ethic able to handle stress, work well under pressure, and manage multiple tasking's with the ability to flexibly and iteratively plan support for team activities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. With the ability to articulate complicated topics concisely.
  • High proficiency in MS Power Point graphics and animation required.

Clearance: Must have a SECRET clearance, but clearable to Top Secret.
