JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES: The Systems Engineering team is seeking a dedicated, analytical, proactive Systems Engineer with a strong background in Network Engineering. This position required the incumbent to apply strong Systems Engineering processes and procedures within Network Engineering. This position requires the incumbent to poses strong interpersonal skills, working knowledge of Project Management, strong knowledge of Systems Engineering, and strong credentials in Network Engineering. The incumbent will work directly with the network engineering team contributing to the design, installation, and configuration of a large scale network infrastructure. The incumbent also collaborates with a wide range of engineering disciplines ensuring the connectivity of end user devices onto the network and ensuring the consistent flow of information within the enterprise. During early phases of projects, the incumbent will execute Systems Engineering processes and procedures of developing project requirements, functional and architectural designs, installation and acceptance testing. Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to: Elicit and elaborate user capability needs into functional and performance requirements. Develop or assist in developing functional, architectural, and detailed designs. Execute system integration and acceptance testing processes and procedures. Assist in network design. Diagnose network problems; solve issues often under time constraints. Develop network documentation. Monitor network performance and usage, anticipate problems and suggest solutions. Coordinates closely with Project Managers on Cost, Schedule and Performance. Performs other duties and assignments as directed. TECHNICAL WORK EXPERIENCE: The incumbent will have a minimum of 6 years experience in Systems Engineering with a background in the Network Engineering discipline and posses a working knowledge in Broadband and Wireless Communications, Network Backhaul, Data Standards (RS232, 422, 485, etc), Various Communication Protocols (SDLC, HDLC, Ethernet, etc.). Strong knowledge of Systems Engineering practices and procedures. Working knowledge of Project Management processes and procedures. Strong knowledge and experience implementing and administrating network devices. Configuration, installation and troubleshooting network equipment. Documenting and explaining network topologies, understand and diagram existing network, diagram, explain plan for future upgrades, experience in deploying large scale networks. Experience in building and maintaining fiber optic networks Understanding and implementation of network traffic analysis, remote access methods and systems, encryption, authentication and authorization technology. Technical expertise working with VPN technologies.

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards. There is occasional lifting (up to 50 pounds), constant sitting and use of a computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while writing, reviewing, and editing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness. Routine travel to remote Company work locations may be required.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The incumbent will possess a 2 year technical degree with a minimum of 6 years of related systems engineering and network experience. The incumbent must possess well developed communication and presentation skills. This position requires the following Credentials: CCNA, CCNP (desired). A current Top Secret government security clearance.

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE: Associates Degree in Engineering or other technical discipline or formal academic/vocational/military training and a minimum of 10 years experience in the specialty field. The incumbent must possess broad knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering that enables the employee to perform as a senior technical contributor on complex projects or programs. The position requires knowledge and skill sufficient to apply developments in engineering to solve problems in the specialty area. Excellent communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs. The position may require the ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software. Must qualify for and maintain a security clearance and possess a valid state issued driver's license.
