JOB SUMMARY-ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Performs mechanical fabrication and assembly from sketches, drawings, and other engineering documentation, assists in the installation, setup, and checkout of major mechanical subsystems, and performs complex mechanical setups and alignments. Perform welding, painting, and CNC machine programming. In addition the incumbent will be expected to perform as a team leader, providing guidance and training to lower level technicians. Operate and program CNC equipment and other sheet metal and machine tools. Work with metal, fiberglass, composites, and various other materials. Perform layout and fabrication form engineering drawings and sketches. Design and fabricate test fixtures and jigs to support productions. Provide suggestions and expert advice for mechanical design solutions for production runs and prototypes. Assist with integration and assembly of complex mechanical systems. Perform installation of mechanical systems at customer site. Apply paint and/or other protective coatings and finishes to fabricated assemblies and components. Cut, weld, and assemble various types of metal piece parts into structures in accordance with engineering drawings and sketches. Inspect completed work for conformance to drawings, specifications and quality requirements. Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Each employee must read, understand, and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to their job. Duties will be preformed both indoors and outdoors and in locations where loud mechanical equipment is operated. Routine lifting up to 50 pounds, regular handling, grasping, kneeling, and carrying, and constant use of visual and mental alertness is required. Candidate must have fundamental welding and machine shop skills. The forgoing conditions and physical requirements represent the general characteristics required to perform the essential functions for this job. In general, all positions may require standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. This position may require travel.

REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE: The incumbent must be a graduate of an accredited two-year technical/mechanical institution or equivalent and at least 8 years job related experience. Candidate must be self motivated to perform requested tasks in these areas. The candidate must possess good people skills and be able to work as a team member. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook as well as other software programs. The candidate must have good communication skills both written and verbal. Duties will be performed both indoors and outdoors. The candidate must be able to work outdoors at remote sites with possible shift work and overnight stays. Candidate must be able to climb 50 ft towers and lift and/or maneuver weights of at least 50 lbs. Candidate must have or be able to obtain a CDL. Candidate must have fundamental welding and machine shop skills. Candidate must qualify for and maintain a TS/SSBI security clearance and must have a valid, current state driver’s license.
