JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES: Seeking a highly qualified engineer who will perform a variety of assignments related to integrated and embedded instrumentation systems. Independently performs a wide range of field engineering tasks for electronic systems. Participates in specification and design of microprocessor-based instrumentation systems. Develops software for real-time acquisition and control systems using C and C++ programming languages. Reviews and makes recommendations on electronic circuit designs and circuit board layouts. Performs field installations and provides engineering support required to instrumentation systems to operational status. Test integrated and embedded electronic systems using a variety of test equipment (oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, logic analyzers, multi-meters, etc.). Troubleshoots electronic systems and resolves complex problems using engineering best practices. Authors user manuals and provides training to personnel responsible for operating instrumentation products. Authors technical documentation and diagrams for electronic systems. Provides customer support for fielded products. Coordinates either other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management personnel to define systems specifications and requirements. Directly communicates technical concepts to customers at all levels throughout a project’s complete life cycle. Performs other related duties and assignments as directed.

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards. There is occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting and use of a computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while writing, reviewing, and editing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness. Routine travel to remote Company work locations may be required.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology (BSEET) or closely related discipline from an accredited academic institution. Experience with development and design of x86 and ARM-based embedded systems. Experience with development of real-time systems using C and C++ programming languages. Experience with Altium schematic capture and circuit board layout software. Experience with electronic test equipment. Experience with designing, implementing and testing Ethernet (TCP, UDP) networks. Experience with analyzing, testing and troubleshooting serial (RS-232, RS-422, RS-485) communications. Holds an active TS/SSBI security clearance and possess a valid state issued driver's license.

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE: Associates Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or closely related discipline from an accredited academic institution with 12 years experience or academic equivalent. The incumbent must possess broad knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering to perform as a lead contributor on complex projects. Experience with development and design of microprocessor-based embedded systems. Familiar with software development in the C programming language. Familiar with Local Area Network (LAN) design and implementation. Familiar with electronic circuit design, schematic capture and circuit board layout. Excellent communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs. Experience with electronic test equipment. Able to organize, prioritize, plan and complete work assignments on time with minimal supervision. Must qualify for and maintain a security clearance and possess a valid state issued driver's license.
