Parkland has earned distinction as one of America’s Best Hospitals by U.S News and World Report every year since 1994.PRIMARY PURPOSEProvides daily scheduling, staffing and delivery of respiratory therapy, ensuring optimal service and quality of care to patients through staff support.MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONSEducation:- Must have an Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care from an accredited American Medical Association (AMA) program.- Prefer a Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care or a field of Science. Point of Care Testing:- Individuals who perform non-waived Point of Care Testing must have a high school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or a college degree.- Foreign education must be evaluated for equivalence to United States education standards by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) or Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) or COLA authorized credentialing agency.- A copy of the high school diploma, GED, college degree/transcript or foreign education equivalence report will be required at time of hire or placement in job.Experience:- Must have five years of respiratory care experience to include two years of experience in a critical care/emergency room environment with both pediatric and adult patients. Certification/Registration/Licensure:- Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the National Board for Respiratory Care, Inc. (NBRC). - Must have a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license from either the Texas Department of State Health Services OR Texas Medical Board. - Must have and maintain current certification in Health Care Provider CPR. from one of the following:oAmerican Heart Association oAmerican Red Cross Rescuer oMilitary Training Network. - Prefer certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).Skills or Special Abilities:- Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and hospital staff. - Must demonstrate a working knowledge of respiratory care procedures, equipment and supplies. - Must work well under stress of completing location demands, including the Emergency Room. - Must be able to make unbiased decisions and judgments on a variety of issues, including scheduling and personnel issues.- Must have good organization and prioritization skills. - Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued care behaviors.
