Primary Duties:
Must start and stop sterilizer/cooker, coolers and all associated equipment in accordance to product flow; i.e
*infeed and discharge cables
*Full can elevators
*cooling water level control pumps
*Control cooling water sprays & steam supply to sterilizers
Must know the location and function of all electrical switches. Must follow proper disconnect and lock-out procedures. Must set full can line gates for proper product flow to Case and Stack Department. Must read interpret and make necessary adjustments on Programmable Logic Controller to control process. Must be able to clear sterilizer/cooker and cooler jams, by physically entering, inspecting and cleaning out sterilizers and coolers. Must keep work area clear of dented/damaged cans, hoses etc. Must clean cooler sprays and strainers on a periodic basis. Must prepare Downtime Report for all equipment in the area, and other reports as required. Must follow proper safety procedures involving all equipment. Must be able to communicate with shift personnel and others. Must also notify department leader or maintenance of any systems problems.
Secondary Duties:
May keep production records. May be required to perform other duties as required.
Some positions will require working in very hot, humid and wet conditions
Most positions are located in areas with loud noise and will require the employee to wear protective ear plugs
Other conditions include wet floors, occasional strong odors from peppers and occasional fumes from cleaning chemicals
Working within confined spaces
Must be able to work any shift
Must be willing to work weekends and overtime as required

High school diploma or GED preferred
Food industry experience preferred
Computer controls (screens, keyboard) skills
Math and record keeping skills
Must possess a solid mechanical aptitude combined with technical training and/or the equivalent in manufacturing experience (preferably in food manufacturing).
Demonstrate creative troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
Candidate must be 18 years of age or older
Must be able to work any shift
Must be willing to work weekends and overtime as required
