Backup Press Operator

Wilsonart, Temple, has an immediate opening for Backup Press Operators. These individuals will operates press as needed, plate lift, align and lay-up the treated decorative and core material under direction of the Press Operator/Foreman. Performs other tasks as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities listed for pressing Level I and Level II.
  • Operates multiple presses to I.S.O. procedures.
  • Performs the back-up operator role for all presses.
  • Performs material handler duties.
  • Trains other team members on the process.
  • Identify different plate finishes and the patterns produced on each finish.
  • Insures all material is present for the production process and inspects to department quality standards.
  • Logs production information such as: material produced, type, size, run, control settings, etc. in the absence of the press operator.
  • Performs lock-out/tag-out procedures and preventative maintenance checks.
  • Ability to interpret and apply contents of the Black Book

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of safety standards applicable to the work area and other pertinent rules and regulations governing work standards.
  • Knowledge of Pressing manufacturing process and component material utilized.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics sufficient to add and subtract.
  • Skill in hand and eye coordination.
  • Ability to identify patterns and finishes Ability to identify colors and shades.
  • Ability to operate multiple presses.
  • Knowledge of safety standards applicable to the work area and other pertinent rules and regulations governing work standards
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
  • Ability to accurately record information on production schedules/logs.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision and as a team member.
  • Ability to interpret dials, graphs, charts, etc.
  • Ability to visually detect product imperfections and defects.
  • Ability to communicate well in oral and written form at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to make decisions in a leaders role.
  • Ability to read and understand the ISO Procedures
  • Knowledge of safety standards applicable to the work area and other pertinent rules/regulations governing work standards.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: High School Graduate or GED

EXPERIENCE: Minimum/No Experience

Plus 6 months of Production Operator 1 experience in the Pressing Department. If no candidates possess this experience, then the Company will accept experience in Pressing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking/pushing/climbing and lifting material or equipment of heavy weight 50-100 lbs

ENVIRONMENT: Located in an environment with regular exposure to fumes or odors, temperature extremes, or loud noises which cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness. Examples: engineering, waste mgt, laundry workers and yards/grounds staff
