Job Summary

Monday, January 27 - Friday, May 2

This position, under the general supervision of the Director of Procurement, is responsible for supporting the planning and coordination of Risk Management programs and initiatives.


Essential Functions:

  • Assists with the coordination of the property and casualty insurance programs and edits changes in policy forms and formulation of Request For Proposals
  • Helps conduct monthly claims review with Claims Adjusters and Director of Risk Management to ensure cost containment of claims
  • Supports management in coordinating claims against responsible parties for damage to PCCA property and liability claims
  • Assists with Our Driving Concern and Port-wide driver safety program
  • Assists with Workers Compensation network notices
  • Assists on preparing statistical claims reports, projects and performs related duties and tasks as assigned
  • Assists in completion of risk assessments and associated reports

Other:

  • Adheres to PCCA policy, and maintains good employee relations
  • Assists Risk Management Department with special projects as directed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Additional Physical Factors:

While performing duties employee is regularly required to sit, speak or hear, use hand to finger movements; frequently required to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel and lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.


Environmental Factors:

General office environment and off-site meetings; occasional use of Personal Protective Equipment.


Minimum Qualifications:

This is an internship position. Candidates shall be enrolled in an accredited college or university majoring in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or Marketing with demonstrated written and oral proficiency in the English language; proficiency in Spanish preferred. Strong writing, editing and graphic communication skills, organizational and time management skills; ability to operate a personal computer and a variety of programs, office equipment, and internet. Must deal effectively with the public and varying levels of management.
