Position Description:
CSRA is seeking a Database Administrator who can implement and maintain smooth operation and physical design of databases. Conduct performance tuning of indexes, optimization of storage functionality, and databases in general. Review database design and integration of systems, provide backup recovery and make recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements. Maintain security and integrity controls. Formulate policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitor transaction activity and utilization. May work with vendors.
The DBA will assist in the development of a highly-cohesive and loosely-coupled architecture according to standard industry-accepted design patterns. Assist in modifying both the tools and the underlying databases to maintain operational effectiveness. Support a multi-tiered technical solution for data management with data quality, data integrity. The DBA?s duties include database upgrades, space management, object/product maintenance, database/object tuning, backup/recovery, disaster recovery planning/implementation and exercise, managing space, monitoring resources and fine-tuning the Oracle databases for better performance, writing optimal PL/SQL and SQL queries and performing PL/SQL and SQL query walk-throughs prior to implementing the SQL based applications in production.
The DBA will support on-going technical and operational support in all aspects of Oracle administration on UNIX and Linux servers. Write processes which monitor the health of the databases supported at DMDC. These processes monitor the growth of the stored data, the amount of space remaining for growth. Support security on the UNIX and Linux platform for Oracle databases. Perform both the logical and the physical modeling for all new and changing database system entities. Maintain several application and related data warehouses. The DBA works closely with customers, developers, vendors, and data quality team to ensure the accuracy and completeness of data. Data quality is assured through proper application coding and data cleansing. Constant vigilance is required in reviewing data content for anomalies.
Develop and document step-by-step procedures for application database responsibilities including disaster recovery exercises. Work with customers, developers and Systems support group to setup and implement the Disaster Recovery process as requested.
Minimum technical and experience requirements:
Secret or Top Secret Clearance is required
Able to provide 24/7 support 365 days of the year.
Good understanding of Oracle internals and objects
Minimum 6+ years? experience working with Oracle databases within Linux and Unix environments
Expert level of SQL and PL/SQL skills: Query optimization, troubleshooting and performance tuning.
Experience in design, development, testing, implementation, and support of database objects including but not limited to data models, triggers, packages, procedures, functions, and data loads.
Experience of UNIX and Linux Servers, ability to read, develop and test UNIX shell scripts
Experience setting up Cron jobs.
Experience in data migration project: thoroughly testing the migration of data from one data structure to another.
Experienced in Oracle data pump, export/import process, table space point-in-time recovery.
Good analytical, written and communication skills.
Performance tuning of indexes, tables, optimization of storage functionality, and databases in general.
Knowledge in creating automated testing scripts.
Respond to system failures and work with developers, customers, and vendors to resolve issues related to database servers and related hardware.
Regular and proactive performance monitoring of various database structures, activities and users, noting performance and other problems, diagnosing the cause and implementing a remedy.
Self-motivated and work well in a team environment.
Adapt to new technologies and priorities.
Oracle Database Security.
Database Performance Tuning.
Experience in applying Oracle product patches and upgrades.
Oracle RMAN Backup.
Basic understanding of Oracle tools such as Forms, and Reports.
Understanding of Pro*C and JAVA is desired.
Oracle Data Guard / Oracle Advanced Replication experience is desired.
Oracle Grid Tool experience is desired.
