Capable, qualified and versatile quantitative intelligence and threat research analysts to support and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of data scientists and analysts on a wide range of problems. The person in this position will bring analytical rigor and statistical methods to address the challenges of National and Homeland Security-related threats, and will help analyze large data sets, identify data sources useful in analyzing threats, and assist in the development and delivery of high-quality, data-driven, machine learning and predictive modelling solutions.
? Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of large data sets, including classification, pattern, and entity extraction associated with various National and Homeland Security threats (e.g., cartels, illicit trafficking, terrorist travel, nuclear proliferation).
? Research specific threat behaviors using reasonably available data and information to analyze and model that behavior (using all reasonably available tools and techniques) for the purpose of developing risk assessment techniques to target that behavior.
? Support projects with hands-on analysis and modeling, leveraging data analysis and analytical techniques and methods to solve complex business problems.
? Help develop a predictive analytics model that includes data collection, organization, advanced statistical analysis and predictive solutions, text and data mining.
? Perform, and assist with developing and maintaining predictive modeling and running analytical models. Develop business requirements, design technical solutions, execute SQL queries, and test solutions.
? Perform collection, organization, manipulation, and statistical analysis of structured and unstructured data in the development of predictive analytical solutions.
? Extract patterns from a large datasets and transform data into an informational advantage for decision support.
? Experience with the application of mathematical and statistical methods, and numerical or quantitative techniques.
? 2 years of experience in data analysis or related field.
? Experience with statistical software (R, Weka, STATA, SPSS, SAS, or similar).
? Experience with databases and scripting languages (such as Python).
? Bachelor's Degree in finance, statistics, economics, accounting, mathematics or a related quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Physics, Operations Research).
? MBA/MS/MA is a plus.
Desired Skills and Experience:
? Experience working in a National or Homeland Security-related environment, working on issues such as transnational security, illicit trafficking, criminal networks, transportation sector, or border security.
? Experience with statistical analysis, machine learning, data mining, or building statistical methods.
? Experience working with large structured and unstructured data sets to identify and prepare data for statistical analysis and analytics.
? Ability to design and execute data science analyses such as Monte Carlo simulation, Data Mining, Pattern Recognition, Agent Based Modeling, Bayesian Network analysis, genetic algorithms as well as advanced statistical analysis.
? Public policy, political science, or legal background in a national security, homeland security, or law enforcement domain.
? Existing, active CBP or DHS Public Trust clearance.
