National Grid is seekingan Electrical Engineer for a position within the Substation EngineeringDepartment at our Waltham, MA location.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
感erform investment, conceptual, and detailed design engineeringfor transmission and distribution class substations up to and including 345kV.
嵯esigns include modifications and additions to existing sites andnew 'green' field (new construction) locations.
感rovide detailed technical scope and cost estimate documentationfor use by both internal and external design resources.
感erform engineering calculations and studies to support projectscope.
感rovide technical leadership to a multi-disciplined project team.
感repare comprehensive written and oral reports of technicalproblems, investigative findings, and engineering recommendations.
惹upport Project Manager and Project Management Processes.
感articipate in project estimating and economic analysis.
嵩oordinate with design consultants, and interface with internaldesign staff.
愛eview drawings associated with projects, including manufacturers'equipment.
愚anage consultants' work, ensuring compliance and technical adequacyagainst approved standards.
嵯evelopment of standards and procedures
Knowledge & Experience Required:
嫂 Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABETaccredited engineering program.
彙ob classifications are dependent upon the level of job relatedexperience.
廉ood working knowledge of industry standards, safety standards,and existing electrical design codes.
感roficient MS Office computer skills (Access, Excel, Outlook,PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
嫂bility to physically navigate in and around an electricalsubstation.
慎alid driver's license with acceptable driving history
惹trong problem solving and analytical skills.
感roven interpersonal and written communication skills.
徬nowledge of the following is desired: Substation construction andmaintenance techniques, Electric utility operationpractices, Substation materials, Grounding and Lightningstudy analysis, IEEE, ANSI, NFPA 70, ASTM, NESC
Preferences for CurrentPosition:
愚assachusetts State Professional Engineers License (or ability toobtain within 3 yr)
3 to 5 years work experience (Master's degree considered equivalentto 1 yr work experience
幹E exam complete for Engineer with < 4 years work experience
徬nowledge of Bentley Microstation, AUTO-CAD, Microsoft Project,CDEGS,Primavera and/or other similar software tools.
