Reports to: Workshop supervisor.                                               

Job Purpose:         

The forklift mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on forklifts and other material handling equipment. This role requires a thorough understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work efficiently and safely.                                                                                                                                                
Key Accountabilities:

• Conduct routine maintenance services such as oil changes, battery checks, tire inspections, and brake adjustments.
• Replace worn or defective parts with new or reconditioned parts.                                                   
• Develop and follow preventive maintenance schedules for forklifts and other material handling equipment.
• Communicate with customers or internal staff to explain equipment issues and repair needs.  
• Provide cost estimates for repairs and maintenance services.                                                          
• Properly use and maintain tools and equipment.

• Use diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical and electrical issues in forklifts.                                 
• Interpret diagnostic reports to determine necessary repairs.                                                             
• Perform repairs on forklift engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and other components.        
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and diagnostic procedures.                                   
• Document parts used, labor time, and services performed.

Qualifications, Experience & Attributes:

• A diploma or equivalent in Automotive mechanics                                                             
• Technical certification or degree in diesel technology, automotive technology, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience as a mechanic or in a similar role, specifically with forklifts or material handling equipment.                                                                                                                   
• Experience with various forklift makes and models.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.                                                      
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.                                                                         
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• 4yrs Years Experience in forklift repairs and Maintenance.
