Position summary:
Drives product development initiatives and provides technical support to the Canadian business. Develops and implements ingredient, product and processes for all products sold in Canada and across all platforms (frozen, snacks, grocery). Will be the lead developer for Canada and a key member of the business team. Manages relationships with suppliers of ingredients, finished products and of 3rd party service providers for prototype development or sensory insights. Position will be located in Omaha, NE.
Independently develops product development plans and executes projects that align to Canadian business goals
Responsible for all products and projects sold in Canada across all platforms, from concept to successful commercialization and verification (CQV). Includes line extensions, new products, cost savings and design experiments relating to contemporizing flavor, texture and nutritional profiles.
Coordinates and executes plans for bench work, pilot, plant trials and production start ups. Provides technical support to ensure effective and efficient manufacturing of products
Independently works with Canada Marketing and Canada Leadership to launch and develop a strategic pipeline of products. A key member of the Canada business team that actively participates and influences decisions.
Identifies areas for process improvement and cost savings that will increase profitability and productivity
Develops and issues Consumer Based Specifications for formula, processing and raw ingredient specifications
Leverages the R&D matrix organization to stay connected to US and other International initiatives and translate implications for Canadian products
Responsible for securing and approving samples for Sales/Marketing submission ensuring sales sample readiness
Reports to Director Research and Development, Canada & Global Markets

Qualifications, Education & Experience:
BS Degree in Food Science or related field required
5+ years of food product development experienced desired
Knowledge of basic food unit operations, product functionality and safety
Competencies (Critical Skills, Aptitudes & Peronality):
Requires knowledge in food product design, formulation, ingredient functionality and interaction, process design, product scale-up, plant testing and commercialization
Plant start-up experience is desirable
Ability to be self-directed, forward thinking and make decisions that drive business performance; able to work independently with a remote manager
Demonstrates agility in being able to manage multiple platforms and multiple projects simultaneously
Strong communication skills (presentation, oral and written)
Strong relationship skills to achieve partnership and collaboration, both internally and externally
Good working knowledge of information systems, including Microsoft Office Suite, Oracle, SAP
Language/Fluency: English
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 60 lbs., as needed
Driving a company or rental automobile 4 ? 6 hours, as needed
Use of pilot plant equipment
Exposure to manufacturing environments for periodic extended work days to include: loud noise, heat, cold, wet and slippery conditions
Ability to move safely and freely around machinery in both manufacturing and pilot plants
