SAIC is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support our Maneuver & Engagement Division in Crane, Indiana.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

- Develops static and dynamic design and analysis of mechanical systems, equipment and packages.
- Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs.
- Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication.
- Provides design information to drafting for packaging documentation.
- The Candidate will work on mechanical engineering tasks for a variety of system integration projects.
- The candidate will work as a member of a design team to take military projects from concept to production.
- Tasking includes but not limited to: research, specification, and document engineering drawings, plans, and other related documents and materials.
- The individual will be called on to support program deliverables, evaluations and system assessments.
- Will perform modeling of components and assemblies as part of design, testing, and prototype fabrication.
- Work will be performed with minimal supervision, but with regular reviews of work products by customer, project leads and senior engineers.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written.
- Work well in a quick response, customer focused environment.

Qualifications:
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:

- Clearance Level Must Currently Possess: None
- Clearance Level To Obtain: Secret

REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS:

- Bachelor?s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 7+ years of general experience or Master?s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3+ years of experience.
- A focus on the understanding of Robust Design and Quality Engineering is highly desired.
- Design and analysis of mechanical systems, equipment, and packages.
- Proficient with CAD/Pro-E required.
- Experience with Microsoft- based applications such as Word, Excel, and Access, using Windows operating systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written.
- Work well in a quick response, customer focused environment.
- Must be able to obtain interim Secret security clearance.

DESIRED SKILLS:

- A proven history of working well within a team environment and the ability to communicate between different workgroups.
- Quality assurance experience and weld inspection certifications desirable.
- Prior military integration, assembly and contract experience a plus.
- Design and analysis of mechanical systems, equipment, and packages.
- Conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs.
- Conduct Finite Element Analysis and testing on new and modified designs.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-31000A and ASME Y14.100 and the interpretation of drawing standards.
