Description
About the Position:
Analyze and interpret data, procedures, activities, and pertinent documents to provide relevant and Up to date information to support decision-making and the effective working of National Grid.
At the higher levels this role will also design and implement procedures and policies within their area of work to improve the working of National Grid.
At the higher levels this role will also manage relevant projects to add or improve functions of the department.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Independently collate, analyze and interpret work unit operational and/or financial data, procedures, activities, and pertinent business documents within one or multiple areas using pre-determined tools, methods and formats in order to support the department?s decision making process.
Prepare and write relevant documentation in order that all stakeholders are fully informed and all evidence or statistics are documented.
Execute instructions and requests, plan and organize resources and make appropriate arrangements to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and in line with relevant policies and processes.
Maintain and provide information such as regulatory or business essential information in order to ensure regulators and other stakeholders are kept Up to date with relevant National Grid policies, processes and programs.
Monitor and review financial information, updating where necessary in order to identify any anomalies or discrepancies and ensure management has access to Up to date and accurate information.
Build upon technical / professional skills within own area of specialism or of other processes in order to continually grow your personal contribution to the business.
Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to obtain and share information that will benefit National Grid.
Monitor and review work undertaken by project team in order to provide feedback on the appropriate use of materials, tools, equipment or resources and adherence to schedules.
Manages system access and data security procedures to ensure customer data privacy and protection.
Supervise work of other analysts (particularly in the scope of projects) and clerical union staff to high levels of performance and accuracy.
Additional Responsibilities for Band E:
Band E employees are expected to deliver on the key accountabilities list above as well as those listed below.
Monitor and manage personal work queue in the scope of a well defined Change Management process.
Proactively research, produce, monitor and analyze cost, policy or other information to enable analysis of key themes and trends.
Manage the Day to Day relationship with relevant internal parties or employees in order to understand their requirements, deliver appropriate, customized solutions and advice, and build cross-functional working in line with National Grid policies and processes.
Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders in order to share best practice, provide technical advice and build bases of influence.
Manage the Day to Day relationship with contract or external service providers, including negotiation, interpretation and application of established contractual agreements and / or service level agreements to ensure adherence to standards and best outcomes for National Grid.
Assist and coordinate work on projects by contributing to developing project standards and processes to improve project Delivery within the relevant function.
Keep Up to date with market / regulatory developments within own profession / discipline in order to ensure the optimization of best practice for National Grid.
Develop and maintain analytical systems, models and procedures in order to support design solutions and enhance time / consistency / safety / efficiency and operability.
Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better in order to drive greater efficiencies within assigned area.
Additional Responsibilities for Band D:
Band D employees are expected to deliver on the key accountabilities list above as well as those listed below.
Manage all aspects of projects ? defining, planning, resourcing, plan implementation, communicating, and monitoring performance - that add or improve functions of the department.
Manage all aspects of a well defined Change Management process in line with agreed protocols and policies.
Develop process and policy specifications and criteria and options and evaluate those options to support senior management decision-making in the relevant field.
Research and analyze key themes from a wide range of data sources in order to identify how different scenarios may impact upon the business.
Design and implement new processes or policies in order to ensure all working practice (and where relevant, health and safety standards) are compliant with National Grid policies and regulatory requirements.
Translate business objectives into clearly defined business cases, annual plans and objectives in order to support achievement of departmental/operational area.
Negotiate and agree contracts with outside vendors including standards of work / levels of service to ensure best value for National Grid.
]Contribute to the identification and formulation of strategic objectives specific to area of work/business unit, in order to drive change and innovation within National Grid.
Lead, motivate and develop a professional team, prioritize work and allocate resources in order to ensure results are delivered in line with expectations and customer/business objectives.
Develop and utilize peer group network in order to absorb and apply technical/professional best practice within own area of specialism.
Monitor and control allocated human and material resources, maintaining financial and progress forecasting in order to ensure projects are delivered according to schedule and within budget.
Qualifications
Knowledge & Experience Required:
A Bachelor's degree in a business, systems, or financial area and Up to 2 years of related experience, or equivalent work experience. An advanced degree / credits is desireable.
Knowledge and experience in one or more areas of customer account management, financial structures, energy management, information systems management, document management, paper and electronic document Delivery.
Knowledge of National Grid's business operations, company policies and practices.
Knowledge of relevant industry practice and legislation.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
Skill in relational database querying techniques (SQL) desireable.
Understanding of project management techniques and methods.
Understanding of fundamental Change Management concepts.
Understanding of US Postal System bulk mailing fundamentals desireable.
Knowledge & Experience Required for Band E:
Band E employees are expected to have the knowledge & experience listed below.
A Bachelor's degree in a business, systems, or financial area and Up to 5 years of related experience, or equivalent work experience. An advanced degree / credits is desireable. Experience supervising work of others.
In-depth experience in one or more areas of.customer account management, financial structures, energy management, information systems management, document management, paper and electronic document Delivery.
Able to define and manage work of others through project assignments or clerical operations.
Knowledge of relevant industry practice and legislation. Knowledge of current trends within the industry and developments in legislation or regulation.
Knowledge of National Grid's business operations, company policies and practices.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
Skill in relational database querying techniques (SQL) highly desireable.
Experience and proficiency in relevant company related IT systems.
Strong understanding of project management techniques and methods.
