Research, analysis, design and development of control systems for optical and directed energy systems. Duties include research and development of advanced control and stabilization concepts for optical systems, jitter/beam walk control, wavefront control, and target detection, tracking, and filtering. The successful candidate will have strong analytic and communication skills and work well in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment.
Candidate will have demonstrated experience with design and development of multi-input/multi-output, control systems, non-linear controls and estimation, and numerical optimization. The candidate will have excellent fluency with Matlab/Simulink and must be able to communicate effectively with all team members, possess good time management and organizational skills, and able to work in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment. Ability to obtain a clearance is required.
Knowledge/experience with control of optical systems including adaptive optics, fast steering mirrors, gimbal systems, jitter/beamwalk controls. Knowledge/experience with robust control methods. Knowledge/experience with real time implementation of control, real time operating systems, FPGA, multi-core, and GPU based devices and highly parallel computation.
